Atra Razor

Exactly what I was looking for. I preferred to stay with the Atra - a razor I've been using for 30 years - not only because I probably don't need five edges on each razor, but because I had recently purchased a hundred replacement blades just in time for my 30 year old handle to finally bite the dust (beyond fixable - hee hee). I'm writing this review on the first day since receiving it. It's metal, it's got some weight, the replacement blade mechanism works smoothly and it's a good looking handle at a very fair price. Before buying this I had checked eBay for inexpensive replacements for my handle, and I was impressed that my exact old handle was still making its rounds as "vintage." But I just couldn't bring myself to buy one of those at a premium price just BECAUSE they were "vintage." This excellent brand-new handle costs less than sellers on eBay were asking for sometimes-used handles. If you still use Atra blades and your old handle has gone south on you, purchase this handle. I'm beyond pleased with mine. Perfect!

I stubbornly refuse to upgrade to cartridges with 3 or 5 blades, and this razor allows me to continue to use the 2-blade Atra Plus, which is now appearing again in drugstores and supermarkets after many years (so thanks to all of you out there for sticking to your guns). The razor itself is a bit heavy for my taste, and it would have been nice if it came with a stand, so it doesn't have to be stored blade up (dangerous) or blade down (dulls the blades.

An original Atra razor exchanges cartridges more smoothly and swivels better but, as far as shaving, you really can't tell the difference. It's a bit easier to control as it's heavier than an Atra and a good value compared to trying to find a new Atra handle.

Bought this for my husband because his original Atra handle finally died after 30 years of use. This new one is heavier, has a classic design that is much more comfortable in his hand. He loves it.

I had to put several small rubberbands around the handle when using this razor to keep from slipping out of my hand. It was a little heavier than the original Gillette Razors.

could not find an Atra anywhere. Should have know this was on Amazon. heavy construction and works great

This razor handle is sturdy and fits well in my hand.

So happy to have found this razor. Old fashioned type but like it better than newer editions.
