The crystal is immersed in the water, if it wasn't it wouldn't infuse the water, but the crystal is highly polished and so is safe. I always say a little prayer of gratitude to the water and the crystal before drinking, as it is well documented that water crystals respond to the vibration of words, and it tastes delicious. I never thought I would enjoy tap water, it normally tastes so chemical and bitter, but the crystal transforms it.The bottle comes apart, so it is very easy to clean and with the lid on it is secure with no leakage.Value for money?
