I work online and care primarily about decent sound (not really an audiophile), a great microphone, and durability. I'm so tired of gluing my headsets and earbuds back together with super glue. I go through several pair a year. These are very solid metal on the earpiece and the chord is long enough ;(not too short) and made of some kind of flat plastic (?) that seems much heftier than the normal wimpy chords. If these last me a year, I will be very impressed just because I am used to the plastic garbage that falls apart in a few months. I also sound checked the mic on my computer and it was crystal clear. I am confident that when I am running meetings online I will have no issues with this microphone. I need earphones and a mic that function well since I use them everyday for work. I am NOT an audiophile and while I will use them to listen to music sometimes, it was not my primary purpose. The sound is clear for calls and sounds fine for music. I am thinking about buying a few more pairs in case I can't find them anymore or even to give as gifts. But in closing I add, only time will tell. On the strength of these reviews and from the wirecutter.com recommendation, I tried them.All I can say is that the sound is terrible. I buy headphones every so often, trying to find the perfect balance of cost and performance, but these are literally the worst headphones I've bought. The bass is literally nonexistent. For any sound originating below 500 hz, you are just hearing the overtones. And those overtones are fairly awful - treble frequencies are blown out so much and are so muddy that the closest thing I could find to compare it to was AM radio.
