The Rack 42 piece 18/10 Stainless Steel Flatware Set

The media could not be loaded.  These pieces match my Towle set perfectly. I have been searching for teaspoons for years because Towle retired their set. I had give up hope until I ran across this set! So happy! Excellent value and quality product!

Back in 2000, I picked up a similar set of flatware (but no rack accompanied it) while outfitting my sailboat in Canada. I liked them so much that I pulled them off the boat and started using them for our daily use. I tried to find another set for the boat but had no luck. Lately, I started trying to find another set because we've been losing them over the years - not breaking mind you, just misplaced or probably thrown in the trash inadvertently. We're down to 2 teaspoons, for instance, and I still REALLY love this pattern - I've never liked any eating utensils so much as I like these. They're just so durable, so functional, so easy to store - its such a great design.So, having found something approximate now, at long last, I've just picked up two sets. :) Yeah, they aren't the same quality and don't exactly match my originals (for one thing, the handles on these replacements vary in size according to the piece), but still, the handles are similar enough that most people won't notice. And I can live with these new ones having "stainless steel, china" stamped on the back. But forget the rack! It's junk. My husband was able to reduce it into its component pieces with just his hands in moments. Just drive a few nails to the inside of your cupboard and hang em there.

We've had a hanging set of silverware for many years - easy to grab a spoon for a quick taste or to set the table for lunch. The dilemma for this review is that the silverware is very nice. Unusual design with the long slot on the handle of each piece, allowing them to hang easily without just punching a hole in each handle. They have a bright finish that comes out of the dishwasher with a nice sparkle. The problem with the set is the rack for hanging the flatware is horrible in so many ways. I was going to send the set back as the caddy for holding the settings was a fatal flaw, but I was able to configure an older rack to hold the new pieces, and I'm very happy with the purchase for that reason. Maybe this picture will give others ideas for keeping the silverware and tossing the rack.

All items are lightweight but not flimsy; the soup spoons hold up to serving gelato, the knives can be used to cut steak, etc. The shape of each item is appropriate to its use, with nothing compromised just for appearances. The rack is compact, and holds everything in a logical manner. The set arrived in perfect condition; no scratches, no corrosion. My Wife and I both find this set to be an improvement over the hanging flatware we purchased 20 years ago.

I love the way these feel. Heavy but also balanced. The ability to hang these is honestly a game changer. My only gripe is that the groove in them doesn't seem to be fully finished but I haven't had any issues with it and you can't feel that it isnt finished. You have to look closely to see it. Spoons and forks are the perfect size and the butter knives are sharp.

These hanging utensil units are hard to find.

I bought these for my dorm and to use for a future apartment. They are absolutely fantastic! I’ve scooped ice cream without these bending and they haven’t been scuffed from washing! The only negative about them is that the small utensils seem just a little too small and they large ones just a little too large. I prefer the small ones anyway so it works out!

Love this set. It matches my Crate and Barrel set we got for our wedding 24 years ago. Over the years we have lost a few pieces, but replacements are hard to find and very expensive. My husband found these (I married well), and I was so excited. We hung them with our origin set and I never notice which ones I grab.They are almost identical to the Towle set; just a little off in the curves of some edges, but you have to inspect side by side to notice.If you are just looking for a new set, this is it. They are a good weight, attractive, and great to hang after washing.I took pictures of them side by side next to the Towle set. They are the exact same length, width, and hanging center.

I originally bought a set like this from Crate & Barrel decades ago. I am still using it because I love the design.The slots in the handles give this set a unique and elegant look. At the same time it provides a means to hang the cutlery on the included rack and reduces the weight of the Cutlery.The new set is similar but not identical.1. The edges of the slots are not as rounded giving each piece a flatter appearance and less elegant look. I suppose this change was motivated the savings accrued from greatly reducing the machining required2. The rack is now slanted instead of flat and there are only 8 hooks instead of 10. This is an improvement as the slanting prevents the large spoon from knocking the adjacent utensil and the rack is thinner so saving some space.Overall I still strongly recommend this new design.
