She is the most well behaved and affectionate cat ever but as sure as the sun will rise, the second I would go to sleep, she would be on my counters tearing through anything and everything she could get ahold of. Our other cat jumped on the counter and bar top when we first got him as well, but he did it throughout the day so we were able to break him of it over the course of a few days and haven’t had a problem since then. The newbie on the other hand, we have tried everything and she is just bound and determined to run amok once we are all in bed. So I decided to try the double sided tape thing... This tape definitely does the trick for deterring cats. She wanted NOTHING to do with my counters once she felt that sticky the first time. That being said, it does leave a lot of sticky residue on the counter top if you don’t take your time and remove it slowly. After some trial and error I found that the only way to effectively remove it was with goo gone remover. Every time we opened the refrigerator door the kitties would not hesitate to run into it to explore all the heavenly smells and the new stuff! A single stripe of the tape just under the door (where nobody normally steps) was enough to keep them away. They just had to get their paws on the tape 1-2 times to never even care about the refrigerator again. The tape also helped to keep them off the dining table. When they sit on the window sill they are literally a step away from the dining table with all the goodies on it. But they now seem to completely ignore the table. It's a little inconvenient for us to have the tape on that side of the table for now, but worth the result. We will remove the tape after some time to see if the training lasts and for how long. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Attracts hair/lint, looks pretty awful. It definitely does do the trick of deterring my cat from scratching, but it looks like hell on the furniture. As a temporary training aid, it's ok. But I can't leave it permanently on the furniture. It is very visible on my dark teal chair. And it attracts and holds onto hair whenever an animal walks near it, making it hella ugly! Also, removing the backing can be extremely tricky and frustrating. I've wasted several strips trying in vain to get my fingernail in between the tape and the backing (and wasting the stickiness on the other side in the process). It definitely helps to really adhere the tape to the furniture first before attempting to remove the backing. The stickiness helps to hold the tape on and to separate the layers as you dig at the corner. I will say that the tape looks much better on our couch, which is a mid-tone beige color. It blends in much better. But on the dark furniture, it looks horrible. Bear that in mind.
