Review: Best mid-range binocular for the money! - If you want something for every day bird watching, distance viewing, or hunting from a blind, then this is a great choice! A deck or window with a big wide hillside view is the perfect place for the Nikon A211 10x50 binocular. For me, it's a little bit bigger than I'd want to carry while hiking or hunting, but that bulkiness also provides a clear and reasonably bright image compared to many other binoculars in this price range. It's a full size frame, and probably wouldn't survive a fall more than a few feet. As with all binoculars, those long objective lens housings are famous for getting knocked out of alignment. For walking and active watching or spotting, it would certainly be better to go with a compact binocular. If you do carry these, a neck strap or a chest pack would be the way to go. A wrist strap would get heavy and the bulky size would become an issue. The optics are bright and clear. The edges of the image are not clouded or fish bowl distorted like cheaper binoculars. The distance focusing is better than expected at this price range, and I'd recommend these as a standard for daytime viewing. The clarity and image color might not make the hair on your neck stand up, but if you've never used an extremely high quality binocular, these might give you the shivers. lol.. A true 10 power binocular of this quality, is well worth $120-$150 to a serious user, especially if you're using them according to their intended purpose. You would pay a lot more for this quality of image with other brand names. Though 10 power can be handheld, it's about the upper limit of a handheld. A tripod notably improves image stabilization at 10x. As a rule I don't like trying to hold anything over 10 power in my hands, so that makes the Nikon A211 10x50 binocular my number one recommendation, for best all-around daily use, and for people with steady hands.
Review: A great pair of binoculars from Nikon - Crystal clear binoculars with impressive focus, not too heavy and great zoom. For the price, they can’t be beat.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between 10x50, 8x42, 10x42 & 10-22x50?**
A: The first number is the power of the lens, that is how much it will magnify the image. The second number represents the diameter of the lens in mm. They work together to calculate a number called the "exit pupil" or "exit ratio". Take the lens size and divide it by the power to get this number. The higher the number, the brighter the image. For example, 10x50 will give an exit ratio of 5.0, 8x42 would be 5.25, 10x42 would be 4.2. In my opinion, the exit ratio is more important than the power. My favorite binoculars are 8x50 (6.25) but I also just bought 10x50 as a gift who is delighted with that configuration. Stay away from high-power binoculars. They, for me, are too hard to keep steady due to the high magnification.I hope this helps.-Norm

**Q: Is it possible to view the rings of Saturn with these binoculars?**
A: The best view I've gotten with these was from the upper elevations in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, while at a remote campsite. 4 Moons of Jupiter were very clearly visible, but for the rings of Saturn, I could only get the impression of a ring with my view. The planet itself was so bright so that details were obscure. Looking at Venus with these was blinding. I cannot remember the phase of the moon on these nights but it was probably close to the new moon.

**Q: What is the items wight?**
A: According to the specs, it's 3.05 or 3.06 pounds. Assume it's 3, since .05 or .06 pounds is about an ounce.

**Q: Do these have a tripod mount and if so, what kind?**
A: I'm looking at the box (I just got it for fathers day today). It has "Tripod adaptable for a stable viewing platform by using the optional tripod adapter". You have to buy that separately. The directions even show how to do it. Amazon has the adapter shown (Nikon Adapter 7650). It's kind of spendy, but from what i've read, it's just a standard 1/4"-20 mount- just about any of those will work. not sure where some of the other answers are getting their info.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice for the cost
*by R***Y on January 31, 2026*

I've had these for a year now. They have held well so far. The clarity is the most important part of these binoculars. They perform very nicely. In bright sun or low light, they are real nice and clear view. You can see at least 1/4 mile away down to or across the field with no problem.
