This is a book of 215 pages, is in large print and will only take a few hours to read.BUT do not be put off by this..... Sid Fleischman tells the Houdini story in such an honest,humorous and fresh way. Each chapter (21) covering the main events in Houdini's life.Full of marvellous photographs and posters. I found this a truly enjoyable read.

I liked this book a lot. Anyone who is interested in Houdini, escapes, magic or illusions will get a lot from it.

Seller and delivery were fantastic.The book reads like a bit of a beginners guide to hiding with some nice facts and photos, I was expecting something a little more substantial, this book is maybe aimed at a younger audience.

This was a reasonable, if not especially in depth look at Houdini and his life. I was surprised when I received it to find it had very large print and rather easy prose - it turned out that this is a young adult book aimed at the 11 to 15 age group, hence large print and simple text and lack of great depth and analysis. Taking it as a Young Adult book it's not bad, but the point is it was not clear on the description on Amazon that this was a book for young readers or I would have chosen another biography on Houdini, so be careful if thinking about this one - for a young reader it is a decent introduction to Houdini, but for most adults it is little use and bad marks to Amazon for failing to make very clear that this is a child's book.

Great book, Fast Shipping and great price

I have never been disappointed by a Sid Fleischman book and this one is no exception. The work is well-researched and the photos are phenomenal. My only heads up is that I did get this book for my almost 9 year old who is a great reader, but this was way over his head. I would say that as an independent read it is for tweens and up, however it made a great read-a-loud and vocabulary/history builder for him. Thank you Sid for another stellar piece of literature.

This book was on the summer reading list for my daughter's rising 5th grade class. She enjoyed reading it and I read it too and learned a lot about Houdini. It is well researched and well written.

got it for my son's reading class requirement and he really enjoyed it.
