I had been shopping for the longest time for an area rug with the following criteria:1. A number of agreeing reviews on the rug's quality.2. Multiple colors in varied pattern so as to remain usable as decor changes.3. Blend of modernity and some pattern reminiscent of Turkey or Moroccan style.4. Nothing bright white or with too much plain white/light colors because I have a dog.I had a rough budget of around $350 or less - but the rug must be of great quality for the money. In this respect, I narrowed my search to Safavieh, which I had seen garner almost unanimously wonderful reviews across many products.So far I LOVE:1. Faint "new rug" smell that dissipated within an hour, max.2. Edges laying flat within a few hours.3. Wrapped in multiple layers thick plastic, so they care about the product they provide.4. Minimal shedding - STOP WHINING ABOUT WOOL RUGS SHEDDING THAT'S THEIR DEAL - if you can't handle this, stop buying wool rugs???5. GORGEOUS in person.6. Very durable backing to the rug.7. Thick and soft underfoot.A few things:1. The pattern is NOT symmetrical, which is very clearly depicted in photos. Why are people acting like they had no idea this would happen to their own rug? I love it, gives it a more modern flair.2. See note about shedding above.3. I have not needed extra padding underneath, nor anything for grip. But mine is also pinned down by a couch and a coffee table.

This is such a lovely rug. I've had many wool rugs and none have shed this badly, none! The whole of my hardwood floors from the living room through the dining room and into my bedroom are covered in wool fibers! I've only had it a couple weeks, perhaps it will slow at some point but for now it requires vacuuming every other day. Not just vacuuming the rug either, but the whole of my little 1400 square foot house. Labor intensive for a disabled old lady.To end on a happier note, the colors are beautiful and deep, not bright but vibrant. Part of the pattern is missing. I had not picked up on that when I ordered it but I rather like it. Oh well, exercise is a good thing.January 2022 - Still sheds. Still filling my vacuum cleaner bag. Still beautiful and cozy. But what a bother! If I could sell it for what I paid for it, I’d do that with nary a look over my shoulder!

Love this rug!! After a bad experience ordering this same rug from another online retailer, I was thrilled to find it on Amazon! It was delivered on time and looks beautiful in the family room! Since it is a wool rug it will shed and it does. This is to be expected and anyone who has ever had a wool rug will know this. The colors are fantastic and my family room has a whole new character now!

Beautiful rug, super soft, well made but it sheds horribly, can really see the fibers on dark hardwood floors. I’ve had this rug for a few months in the hopes that it would get better, but it still sheds constantly with daily vacuuming.

At first I didn’t know if I’d like an asymmetrical pattern but it’s a great rug and perfect at bedside or anywhere that it won’t get muddied up. I love that wool doesn’t have a chemical smell. Mine is a smaller size than my others but I still don’t think it’s shedding like the hooked ones do. A good value.

The quality of this rug seriously exceeded my expectations, I couldn't believe it when I took it out of the pack! It's VERY thick and looks way more expensive than what I thought! Initially, I didn't think that my front door was going to slide through the thickness of the rug, but it did! I did have to vacuum this out for it to lay flat and I had absolutely no problems since purchasing it. Also, the colors were a bit darker than expected, but it still looks good. It arrived within the two days as expected from Prime.

The rug is very nice and thick. It rolled it out with very few wrinkles. No odor to speak of.The only thing I don’t like is the pattern isn’t symmetrical. That’s my fault for not noticing.It’s not an issue in the room I’m using it in. But if you’re putting it in an open room with no furniture on it you probably wouldn’t like it. I balanced the design by putting a loveseat on one end of it.

There are a lot of things I love about this rug. The pattern is beautiful. The colors are my favorites. It's a nice thick rug that would probably look a lot more expensive than it really was EXCEPT... IT SHEDS. The way our living room is arranged, one edge of the rug fits neatly under the front two legs of our couch. That means our feet touch it constantly. I have to pick up fuzz balls and rug parts from these areas daily. The parts of the rug that are not subjected to such high traffic are holding up much better. I would definitely recommend this rug because it's gorgeous, but I do think it would hold up better in places where people and pets only pass occasionally.
