I really like this product. Worked great on first try for installation. Followed the instructions to a T and used the template that came with it.. Made the holes at the right size and after twenty minutes, (mostly of cutting the metal door) this pet door installed in a flash.I have a large Main Coon cat and after taping the flaps open for a few minutes, the cat started using the door right away.I closed the flaps and when he wanted to come through but was intimidated, I opened the flaps just enough to show him my fingers and he understood to push the flaps was OK.He was using it on a regular basis about three hours after installation.My cat is a long hair cat and the door has two brushes for the flaps on each side. Every time he uses the door, his coat brushes on the sides and leaves some loose pet hair clumps that I pick up at the end of the day. It's like he gets a good brushing every time he uses the door. I did notice that he seems to be smoother to the touch after a week's use.The door is well made. You can use the sliding trap from the inside or out position. The two flaps do their work just fine so I don't use the sliding trap as of now. May be in the coldest of winter months.Very happy.

Great door. I bought on Amazon warehouse deal so under 50$ for medium that works great for 3 Boston terriers 20# to 38#’s 8” wide & 16” at top of shoulder for biggest dog who easily goes thru door. I installed 4” above floor. The dual vinyl flaps with air lock and weather stripping is substantial and 100% improvement over the pet safe doubled single flaps I had in the patio slider door insert I replaced. I opted to install thru the wall 4”. A friend has had this door (medium size) installed thru a metal door for over 10 years at their house and it has held up great with 2 dogs continual use. I made sure no electrical wire or stud was in cut area and centered cut between 16” centers. I framed out the resulting space instead of purchasing the expansion kit with 2x4’s and 1 x 4 trim. I didn’t use the supplied bolts.. they weren’t long enough but even if they were it is way easier once the surrounding inner opening is framed to just use wood screws instead of fighting perfect line up for bolts. I drilled out the outer panel bolt channel so I could use screws on that side and gently tightened screws so as not to crack plastic. I had all the above mentioned miscellaneous saved from other projects so that made it cost effective. A multi tool is also a must. A multi tool is a must for life in general !!! If you have any DIY skills you won’t be disappointed in this door… regardless this is a super nice door compared to all the other options especially for the price.

Edit- install was easy. Gave a few stars back. I still think there were many oversights in design but it does work and keeps some of the weather outside.Okay so this is a pre-installation review-- I will edit accordingly after install and use-- Just wanted to vent about design issues I've noticed- if they end up not being issues I will edit.1. The magnet-sill at the bottom of the door is just a ridiculous design choice- it sometimes does not raise to meet the flap when I hold it vertically, in what hell will this thing raise when that sill gets inevitably filled with dirt? For christs sake2. No gasket on the interior mating surface. Just kind of lazy, there's no reason not to gasket both surfaces.3. The door doesn't "latch" into an unlocked positioned much like the picture portrays-- this would have been trivial to add- there is already a latching mechanism.So yeah-- we'll see how install gos...
