How can people give these bad reviews when they are only using head units to power!?
I will start by saying these poor reviews (besides the damaged speakers, wrong sizes or premature life) are not accurate! These speakers have a RMS of 60 watts. That means they will perform to their best ability unless you have AT LEAST 60 watts running to them. I am not trying to be an ass but come on!! DO NOT rate these speakers for poor performance when you are using a stock head unit or even an after market head unit with no amp! That is like saying in a review that a toaster is a piece of s*** because it wont toast your bread off a 9 volt battery! I have a 2007 F250 with a Pioneer AVHX2700BS head unit. I hooked up 4 of these speakers without an amp until I was able to find an amp suitable for my setup. They sounded OK. A tad better than stock. A little bass but not much. Then I found a 400 watt RMS amp and now have these speakers running on 100 watts RMS a piece at 2 ohms. THEY ARE AMAZING!!! They do not rattle your head by any means but you feel them hit. These are not top of the line, but they are VERY acceptable for the price and I guarantee you I am heard 1/2 mile or so away clearly and extremely loud. I can not turn these all the way up with out getting a headache. I have had no noticeable distortion what so ever. I wish they did have more bass but I am 100% satisfied and would recommend them to anyone. Rap sounds decent but you will have to adjust settings for some songs. Rock and country sound very nice with these speakers.

NO AMPLIFIER NEEDED!! 1997 Ford F-150 Supercab with 50W x 4 head unit makes these speakers rock!!
I purchased 2 sets (4 speakers) of the Pioneer TS-A6885R 6"x8" 4-way speakers for my 1997 Ford F-150 Supercab because the stock speakers had begun to sound a bit shabby, and my daughter blew the right rear one completely. I had read some complaints from other buyers that these speakers don't have very good bass response, but I believed those people were trying to connect these to low-power OEM head units, which would likely not have enough oomph to make these thump. I have a Pioneer DEH-P6500 SuperTuner III-D head unit, which has a built-in 50W x 4 power amp and equalizers. After reading many reviews, I suspected my system had enough power to make these speakers sound good without having to buy an external power amp, and I am pleased to report that I was right. If you want serious chest-crushing, window rattling bass that makes the mirrors in the cars all around you shake, then you need to go get a big power amp with sub-woofers. But if you want strong, clear music in your car, then these speakers will work just fine. That doesn't mean these are "old-person" speakers, not at all. I like rock and roll music, and I like it loud. I also really like strong bass, and I was worried that these might be a little weak, but they thump as hard as I want them to. In fact, I had to back off the bass power on the equalizer because it was so strong it was covering up some of the mid- and high-range sound. I have listened to radio, CD, and Pandora through my iPhone, and the sound quality is excellent. I've cranked music like Rush, Kansas, Foreigner, Journey and AC-DC, as well as country music and mellow stuff too, and so far the sound quality is pretty much perfect. After I installed them (they were a perfect fit in my truck- no mods necessary), it took a few minutes of cranking the volume up to break the speakers in so their sound began to really open up. Once broken in, these speakers CRANK! They deliver powerful, crisp-sounding music, from crystal-clear high end sounds to hard-thumping bass with no distortion. My teenage daughter was yelling to me over the music from the passenger seat and I could barely hear her, if that helps you get a feel for the volume level and clarity of sound. I can see why so many of the reviews of these speakers are 5 stars... Once you hook them up in your F150, you'll wish you'd done it a lot sooner!

Good Full range speakers for Mazda Doors, nice sounding while amped at 60W with bass boost on
After some little cockroach got into my SUV and stole my boxed 6x9's around the Holidays, I was dreading ever going through that again and decided it was time to rock some door speakers. After reading so many positive reviews of these speakers by Pioneer, I decided that I would go with 2 sets, one for front and one pair for the rear doors. I have them amped running full range using their crossovers, with bass boost on for now, but will probably turn that off once I get my subs back in there. They sound overall pretty fulfilling, not like I am missing any range across the 100Hz to 16KHz spectrum, since the highs are definitely there with the two tweeters on board, with a lot of midrange. They have nice rubber surrounds and some kind of mica cone. The Bass response is not bad considering the size of the woofer cone. I did use some 1/2" foam weather stripping to make a sealing\reducing gasket where the speaker frame meets the door sheet metal. I ran dedicated 16 gauge high strand Cu wire to each from the amp,- as opposed to using the 20 gauge existing factory wiring. It was a pain, but worth it. Soldering was the way to go here with heat shrink tape at each terminal. They come with mounting Philips head screws. Did not use baffles, but I decided to spray some rustproofing spray on the insides of the doors regardless to keep some of the acoustic resonance of the sheet metal down. They are worth the price for sure, no regrets so far, except for installing these in the dead of Winter in the upper 20's was a bummer.

Perfect Replacements for my 2010 Ford Ranger
When I first came across these on Amazon I wasn't quite sure if they were the same brand I was just looking at that Yellow-Tag site. Are we allowed to say BestBuy? At BB, these speakers were over twice as much as a pair here at Amazon! So after a few days of shopping around I came back and bought them here. I'm just saying. These speakers are fantastic. I listen to all genre of music from Hip Hop to classical and I do not miss any detail or nuance ranging from J Cole to GP Telemann. Even with all windows down I can hear with no distortion. I was going to install a new 2-DIN head unit with some of the bells and whistles until I switched these speakers. For now the head unit can wait, they sound great with my factory (Sirius)unit. Bottom Line: Buy these speakers, I find I go for long rides just so I can listen to them... arf I don't require a subwoofer since these have great crossover and won't be looking for one anytime soon. Eventually, a new head unit but at this stage these speakers have saved me from needing to do. For the price and quality of sound, I could not be happier. There are no grills that come in the package. The box includes some mounting hardware and I believe a small amount of what appears to be dental floss. Oh, my bad, they included speaker wire, too!

pioneer ts-a6885r definately worth the buy
I have a 2002 ford f-150 that had the stock speakers in it when purchased. I honestly couldn't stand the sound quality in the truck and it would drive me nuts. The speakers blew shortly after I purchased the truck and so after reading many reviews on different speakers I made a decision to go with these. They were a very easy install and are honestly a great buy for the price. The sound quality in my opinion is amazing and have absolutely no regrets on the purchase. Anyone looking for a great quality speaker and isn't wanting to pay the high markup price from the local car audio dealer should give these more than a glance. I bought the first set to try them out and was so impressed that I immediately bought a second set to complete the front and back door speakers. Very impressed.

Nice Speakers compared to Fords OEM on my 2014 Mustang, I recommend!!
Perfect fit and good sound in my 2014 Ford Mustang base coupe, for the rear deck speakers. I'm using these with the factory radio (standard not Shaker). The factory speaker had very poor mid-range sound (kind of muffled and not much volume), but the facotry had OK sound in the low range (base) and high range(treble). These Pioneers are much more crisp and have good midrange that is much better than Ford OEM speakers, and the Pioneer speakers have a slightly better bass & treble than the Ford OEM speakers. The Pioneer speakers are slightly (very little) "muffled", probably due to the carpet on deck that covers the speakers (This is how Ford designed it). Cutting away the carpet and using a speaker grill maybe a good suggestion. The volume of these speakers is good with factory radio, very loud at 1/2 the maximum volume setting, about the same as OEM.

Superior upgrade for my car's stereo
I've used/tried several brands of speakers over the past few decades, and Pioneer has always made "good" speakers, even in the economy-class price-ranges. The TS-A series are mid-line, and the TS-G series are true "economy" speakers (yet still sound quite good too). While these may not rival high-end, high-price speakers (Bose, JL Audio, Focal), they will hold their own against speakers twice their price (JBL, Alpine, Polk, Infinity, etc.).... AND, they sound MUCH better than similar priced units from Sony, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, Pyle, and MTX. My only complaint with these speakers is the bass is a bit fuzzy below 250Hz, but the amp's crossover fixes that issue and directs the true, low-frequencies to the sub-woofers. Even if you're not using a crossover, the fuzzy sound is hardly noticeable unless you are an audiophile or listen to music that is "all thump". These speakers easily handle the full-range of sound, as well as remain sounding quite good when pushing 50W of power through them (and they will handle 65W RMS easily). Highs are crisp, mid/voice is clear, and lows are well defined. Depending on your mounting location, you may want to invest in a speaker baffle or sound-deadening material behind them if mounting in doors or kick-panels. It will reduce the vibration and re-verb dramatically.

Seem to be built well but audio leaves something to be desired
This review is for the Alphasonik AS-68 speakers, it looks like some of these reviews are mixed in with reviews for Pioneer 6x8 speakers. I purchased these for a 2004 Ford Taurus, when I removed them from the package I was impressed by the build quality. I installed them in the front doors and rear deck. I have a Sony MEX-N5300BT head unit and no amplifier. The Sony drives these speakers great and they produce extremely hard hitting bass but the mids and highs are very muffled sounding. In fact the highs are almost non-existent. I removed the door speakers and reinstalled the factory door speakers and it cleaned up the audio a little bit. Then I reinstalled the factory deck speakers and they sound great compared to the Alphasonik speakers. I really wanted to like these speakers but they just weren't good for my application.
