Hood/Sunshade for 7 Inch LCD Video Monitors

This shade fits my 7" monitor well and only takes a moment to install. The only improvements I would make would be to include larger strips of velcro to attach the shade to your monitor, the ones I received were extremely narrow.

What is amazing is the monitors sold by (ProAm) are more than 7" long. But are closer to 8 inches LONG! So the cover, which is right at 7" long. Truly doesn't fit properly! Looks very Sloppy and UNPROFESSIONAL when you attach it to the monitor. The Velcro strips are very narrow and are totally useless. Because they have very poor sticky (one sided) tape! Which ALWAYS fail to keep the cover on the monitor. Again, because the monitor is to long, by an inch longer! Sad, just sad!Now to be fair. I haven't contacted (ProAm) or Amazon about the wrong size issue. But as a company, how can you NOT know your own product sizes? For equipment that go together! Double dah!!!! Until they re-measure,fit, then fix it.... Do NOT buy! You have been warned.

I would have liked to see a hood that snapped together or had hard mounts but this does a good job too. I like the fact it helps block out the light but it adds a nice "director" look to it. I wonder if the velcro is going to get messed up but it is nice having a collapsable item that won't break and I can always go to a craft store if the velcro gets messed up. I am very much glad I got the black one instead of the tan/brown one.

I don't write a lot of reviews, but going through many of the ones for this product it seems like people have a misconception about how to use this product and are writing reviews based upon the product not living up to their misconception, rather than how effective the product is when actually used correctly.The manufacturer cannot possibly know the size of the device you are attaching this to. This is made for a 7 inch SCREEN, and the hood is designed to go around the screen, not the device. This hood is the perfect size for a 7 inch, 16:9 aspect ratio screen. You do not attach this to the top and sides of your device, you attach it around the screen bezel using the provided velcro strips. Please see the attached images.As for how this works: it works great! Once attached with the provided velcro strips, it stays in place even in heavy wind, yet is easily removable. The velcro provided is very low profile, so it won't catch on everything when the hood is not in place. The hood blocks the sunlight, as designed.If I had one complaint with this product, it would be that the bottom piece (since it is removable) does not form a perfect light seal when attached, because of the way it attaches. It would be better if it had flaps to attach to the sides of the top/side piece of the hood rather than just sticking to the bottom. But, it's really not that important, and the light leak is minimal. I can always just stick other pieces of velcro on the places where light leaks if it bothers me too much.5/5 would buy again

The new Lilliput 7" "5D-II" model is too big for this sun hood...yes it has its own integrated sun hood but I thought I'd point that fact out.This one works with semi-permanent velcro strips stuck to your monitor, allowing you to pull off the sun hood and fold it up quickly. That's good as long as you don't mind the velcro stuck on your monitor. They are tiny strips.

I got this to be able to watch and read on my Kindle in the sun. The coverage is minimal and it does not do the trick. I actually ordered smaller one first based on the dimensions listed. Of course it did not work and then the second one with larger dimensions is useless as well. don't buy it. Waste of your money,

This is a well made product that should work well on the right monitor. I bought it thinking it would fit my Kindle Fire. Wrong... it is too small to fit the Fire. Try something else.

One potentially weak point in this design could be the strips of velcro you're supposed to stick to your monitor which, in turn, hold the hood. But it's very good adhesive and it feels rocksolid. Good product at a much better pricepoint than some major competitors.
