Worked right out of the box with NO modification
I wish I had this 2 weeks ago when I started this project. I own a WINNEBAGO 40 footer. I came with a single DIN. i decided to buy a double DIN and do it right. After adding new hidden speakers and hiding all the wires I stated on the install. The dash was a fairly heavy plastic so I thought it would hold the radio with no problems (I have installed lots of radios over the years but never in a motor home) The problem came when after taking the old radio out and the dash off I found that there were NO supports of any kind to bolt the radio to and that the factory had just installed the original radio and NO supports because it was so light! I tried with great frustration for 2 weeks to build some kind of cage to hold it (I have literally a whole automotive repair garage because I love to restore old cars. But nothing I could use would work.I ordered this specific cage out of frustration hoping it would work AND IT DOES PERFECTLY! I would recommend to anyone that is trying to change a radio to take a VERY serious look at this kit. There are enough and then some tabs to bend to fir and secure the cage to about any style dash opening. With the cage, security slides that mount to the side of the radio and the trim ring that comes with it the cage system makes the double din radio look like it came right out of the factory that way

What a disappointment…
I normally don’t leave negative reviews for a product but this Double Din Installation Kit is bad. It doesn’t fit correctly, the body is out of square, the trim pieces are extremely flimsy and there’s no instructions. If this was the cheapeat available I’d chalk it up as I get what I paid for but I chose a mid-price kit, still a mistake. Save a headache and buy the Scosche brand.

Typical install sleeve
Works. Pretty flimsy, but they all are. I used it in my custom built dash for my 1977 GMC motorhome. The dash is 1/8" aluminum sheet, and there were no bend tabs that would work to hold the sleeve tightly. So I used some shop made aluminum angles, and bolted the sleeve to the dash top and bottom. This worked well. It would work for thicker dash material, mine was just too thin.

It's not a true double Din
This cage is not a true double din it is too big for the hole You have to cut your dash out bigger And it fits a double din stereo kind of sloppy

Just buy it
Used it for a new RV radio install. Comes with beauty rings, and it is what you'd expect, not a cheapie either.

Too many inadequacies to count.
The number of ways in which this product is inadequate for the intended task are too numerous to list but here is the DL:Yes, you can install a head unit in your car using this. No it won't be easy, simple or possible to do correctly without modifying the product with power tools. Lets start with the fact that no instructions are provided. You have to guess how everything is going to work and be assembled. Once you figure out how everything goes together, There is the matter of how you are supposed to bolt your head unit up to it. There are four screws provided for that, and there are four holes in the chassis but none of them line up with anything. The faceplate is flimsy. You will have to drill your own holes that line up with your head unit — good luck getting them lined up accurately. This is a junk-quality product with no instructions and is generally: poorly suited to the task it is designed for. That said, with some patience, power tools, and trial and error: it is possible to install your stereo with it.I wouldn't buy this again: instead I would go looking for something better thought out, that includes instructions.
