Spectra vs Medela pump in style.
Using these with my Spectra pump and the maymom Flange adapters, takes advantage of the superior pump of Spectra. These are great, Maymom products are very affordable and all components fit together well.Spectra vs Medela pump in stylebackground: breastfed and pumped for 2 children each for a year with Medela pump in style with no real issues, though the milk filling the tubing was annoying and the valve membranes wore out every now and then and tubing had to be replaced a few times. With #3 learned about the Spectra from people at work and since insurance would cover it I received from them. I've now been using an old Medela and the Spectra with the new baby and have these pros and cons to share.Medela pros:- valves work better (though they are flimsy and membranes need to be replaced sometimes they provide a much better seal)- adjustment is incremental (not leveled)Cons:- tubing gets gross when milk gets into it- missing some of the cool features of spectraSpectraPros:- backflow protector so tubes always are clean- light for pumping at night or in dark room- timer (very helpful for me so I don't zone out and accidentally pump for 30 mins)- more different types of adjustments that you can play with (this could also be seen as a con depending on your perspective)- "hospital grade" pump- very very quiet (much quieter than the medela)Cons- valves seem to not work as well as the medela- bottle flange doesn't fit standard bottles (like dr. browns)- jumps in the levels can be a bit intense, I've worked up to L5, but I find it hard to handle sometimes, though the higher levels do get more milk faster- The very slight incremental adjustments of the medela are easier- coordinating the cycle length and levels can be a little harder to manage than the simpler adjustments of the medela.Adjustments:I've played around with different configurations, I am now using the Maymom medela valves on the spectra flanges, I plan to get the maymom flange adapter connector piece so that I can use the Medela flanges with the spectra pump. When I use the medela valves on the spectra I get between 1-2 ounces more in a short session 6-7 minutes! If you go with the Medela (which is still a fine option, and worked for me for two years without issue) I would get the spectra backflow protectors to avoid the tubing getting filled with milk, also just plan on buying some more valves. With a smartphone you can mimic some of the features of the spectra there's a great free app "babynursing" to help with timing of breastfeeding sessions and pumping, and a flashlight on the phone can be helpful at night.Good luck!

A perfect, cheaper alternative to the name brand parts
I needed an extra set of tubing due to a friend letting me borrow her pump to leave at work. I looked at various tubing options and decided on buying this product since it didn't cost much more than tubing alone and gave me some extra pieces. Initially I was hesitant because I thought it might be better to go with the "Medela" brand pieces, I was worried about quality with these. Rest assured, these are just as good!Tubing: The tubing is identical, except the cream colored part is a VERY slightly different shade of cream. No big deal. I ran some water through it and let it air dry for a couple days before use.Breastshield/connector: This piece I wasn't sure I was going to use much. I was very concerned with cleaning it. Specifically, I worried I couldn't get my little nipple brush in all the parts. This is actually easier to clean though. With the Medela one at the bottom where the yellow piece connects there are all these little sections it's hard to get the brush in. This Maymom brand doesn't have all those little areas. I usually throw them in the dishwasher.Valves and membranes: The yellow valves have a slightly different pattern on them, but they function exactly the same. I can't even remember which of my valves are Medela versus this brand. It's nice having the extras this came with. The membranes are the same. Those little buggers get lost pretty easily, so it's nice having some extras of those as well. The only downside is they aren't compatible with some pumping bras. I was doing the home hack of using a sports bra with holes cut out. This product definitely didn't fit in there. I don't think it would fit with my old Medela pumping bra (which I hated and returned). Now I purchased Simple Wishes Hands-Free Breastpump Bra, Pink, XS-L and this all-in-one breastshield actually works with that bra. I don't like to use it though because I'm worried it will stretch out the holes. I like to pump quickly in the morning after my first feed to get all the extra milk out from the night before. This is a very brief pumping session and I use the all-in-one for this time since I don't take the time to put a pumping bra on.If you're looking for tubing and extra parts I absolutely recommend this product. The price is perfect and you get a lot of parts. I have recommended this to some friends and they are happy with the product as well.Update: I used thees for almost a year and never had any problems with them. I've even sold a few sets for Maymom by getting my friends to buy them. It's just such an amazing deal for everything you get. I had absolutely zero problems or complaints other than it not fitting in my nursing bra. I actually lost my milk on one side at about 7 months in and just pumped on one side, so it was easy just to hold it with one hand. I am still nursing my 16 month old, but trying to wean right now. I highly recommend this set if you're looking for lots of parts at a good price.

Good for the price, but not the quality of genuine Medela
As a teacher who has to pump at work during my planning period and lunch break, I can't mess around washing out pumping supplies, so I have to bring 3 "rounds" of supplies with me each day. The price of the Medela parts was a bit high, so I thought I'd give these a try. I gave them 4 stars because of the price, but I have two complaints or cautions before you purchase:1. The placement of where the tubing goes in these parts is different than the Medela parts. As such, it seems like the tubes get more moisture in them. This is normally not a problem: simply keep the pump running with the tubes detached from the bottles to dry them out. However, if you're trying to pump on your rushed 30 minute lunch break while leaving time to use the bathroom and get to and from your classroom (let alone trying to scarf down lunch), any precious seconds you have to spend drying out the tubing are annoying.2. The Medela parts are designed so that the actual cup comes off. I have a sports bra that I simply cut a small slit in, and the cup of the Medela part is easy to get to fit through the slit. The way this is designed, the cup and the rest of the part are all one large piece of plastic, so the homemade bras I made no longer work for these. You have to buy a different type of bra if you want to be able to pump hands-free. This also makes them more difficult to clean. That said, you really can't beat the price. If I had to do it over again, given how much I use them, I would have spent the extra money to buy the genuine Medela parts. But now I have the money to spend on toys for baby :)
