## Description

The Dr. Infrared Heater's Advanced Dual Heating System, combining PTC and Quartz Infrared Element, keeps you warm this winter while saving on heating bills. Equipped with a Dual Heating System and High Velocity Low Noise blower, the Dr. Infrared Heater increases the heat distribution and the result is heating your room to a comfortable temperature, fast. The Dr. Infrared Heater is certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) USA and Canada, ensuring the highest safety standard. The Dr. Infrared Heater is perfectly safe around children and pets and only gets warm to the touch. It does not have exposed heating elements that can cause a fire. The Dr. Infrared Heater comes with Energy saving Auto Mode, high and low setting when the mode is set to Auto, the unit will cycle on and off and switch between high or low setting to maintain the desired temperature setting. All Dr. Infrared heaters are engineered and designed in the USA. How is Dr. Heater Different from Other Heaters? Dr. Heater uses infrared heating, which heats objects in the room, instantly making you feel comfortably warm. By heating only the objects in the space--not the air--Dr. Heater provides maximum warmth and energy efficiency. With its state-of-the-art technology that helps the room retain air moisture, Dr. Heater do not dry out your skin like those convection heaters that blast out hot air, stripping the room of moisture. And the best part? It will save you money. Use Dr. Heater instead of your regular heating system, and you could save up to 50% on your next electricity bill. Plus, with its tip-over protection and auto shut-off overheat protection, you can sleep soundly knowing you have got a heater that is superior in safety. Tests Show Dr. Heater heats Faster and Better than Competing Heaters. In a side-by-side test comparison in airtight chambers with the same starting temperature, Dr. Heater heated the same amount of space much faster than a competing heater that has a price tag more than double that of Dr. Heater. Dr. Heater Delivers 60% more heat than other 1500-watt heaters. No magic trick--we just understand heat transfer better. Just because two heaters have the same wattage does not mean they transfer the same amount of heat. Wattage indicates the amount of electricity needed to power the heater--not the amount of heat it can deliver. Heater is the first to feature a dual heating system for maximum heat transfer rate. It combines the energy efficiency of infrared heat with the comfort of convection heat to heat your room fast and comfortably--without hot spots and cold spots. Dr. Heater uses a state-of-the-art 7-inch blower that generates higher pressure and moves larger air volume at a lower speed, without any of the noise of those other heaters on the market. Dr. Infrared Heater has three power Settings: Auto, Low 1000W and High 1500W. The auto energy saving mode allows you to set your desired temperature from 50-86F. It smartly selects between the two settings depending on your room temperature. The thermostat regulates the heater and causes it to cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature. You can also manually set the heater to run on High or Low all the time or with a timer. The heater has to be turned on first in order to use the remote. This a safety provision mandated by the Underwriters Laboratory. So, in order to use the remote, the first step for the user is to press the POWER button on the heater itself. This turns the heater on STANDBY. Then, pressing the POWER button on the remote will turn the heater on. The heater can't be turned on if the unit is not on STANDBY.

Review: Great Quality Heater! - I own 3 of these now. I finished my basement and the furnace doesn't quite keep the bedrooms warm enough during the winter so I bought one of these. I tested it in a large room, about 275 sq. ft, and it worked really well (all walls and ceilings are insulated). It was such a good heater I bought another one for another basement bedroom. And recently I bought one for an upstairs bedroom that can get a little chilly at night. Pros: 1. Excellent build quality. It's made of wood and feels solid. Inside the wood cabinet that houses the blower and heating parts is made of sheet metal. So it's a wood cabinet that houses a metal box, with all the components inside of that metal box. I point this out because aside from the buttons on the front to operate, there is very little plastic on this heater. The castors (plastic) work well and roll on thick plush carpet. The wood cherry cabinet might look a little unusual or dated to some people but it does look like nicer, in my opinion, than all the other cheap plastic space heaters out there. 2. Heats well. The little heater pumps out air pretty efficiently. It can heat our large bedroom from 65 to 70 in a few minutes. The little blower on it is quiet and doesn't cause problems for those sleeping in the room. They describe it as white noise, on the eco setting, which still heats the large room well and keeps it warm. 3. Features are great. - Has a timer that I believe maxes out at 12 hours - It has an actual thermostat (you can see hanging out the back). You can set the desired room temperature. 68 degrees F is the default out of the box temp. Push the mode and arrow down button at the same time to see current room temp. - Has different modes, eco, medium, and high. We mostly use eco for the cost savings and because it's pretty darn efficient. - Remote is provided is definitely, but see my cons lists 4. Support is available and mostly responsive. Good support is key in a quality product. While nobody should ever have to use it, it's nice to have it available. See my cons lists below for more on support but they have a responsive support team, even if it can be a little delayed. 5. Comes all put together, including castors. Just pull it out of the box and follow the instructions taped on the front of the unit to get going. Cons: 1. The remote - The remote is required to set the timer. This is the single part of this heater I think is poor design. What if the remote is lost or doesn't work? How hard would it be to add this functionality to the unit itself? - On one unit the remote stopped working. I contacted support and they took several days to respond. I had to email them again to see if they received my initial email. They did respond, and going forward communication was relatively smooth. They sent me a new remote, which didn't fix the problem. I lost communication with them again for several days when I reported this. They then came back and said I had to replace the main board on the unit. It's on the front of the heater. It's what the temp is displayed on and the buttons push into. Problem is you have to take the metal housing out of the inside of the wood box and take that covering off to get to the board. It wasn't too bad to replace. You really have to just remove about two dozen or more screws, swap out the board and put everything back together. They provided a relatively helpful video, though it's missing a few key parts. Like how the metal casing fits back together (corners overlap in some places and not others), and they didn't provide me with replacement zip ties, but I had some on hand. They did ask me before sending if I could do it myself and I said yes. I suspect if this repair makes you nervous they had some kind of alternate way to get it repaired for you. I figured this would save me time by doing it myself. It took me about an hour. Overall they backed their product and support did help me get the problem resolved. The cons here are the fact that it took about 3 to 4 weeks worth of emails and a board replacement to get it working again. The pros are they supported their product, and did actually respond, even if it said response was delayed sometimes. The remote has worked fine on my 2 other units. So I assume it was just a faulty board, which does happen in the world of mass production. 2. Support can be slow to respond - see previous con As a side note, I'm not entirely sure what safety features are available with this. I've never tested them. The front of the unit doesn't get hot enough to burn you if you touched it, but it is blowing out very hot air so that alone could potentially hurt little kids or pets, or be very uncomfortable. Usually these space heaters have a tipping feature that would turn it off. I haven't tested for this feature but I will and I'll come back and update this review. The thing is that based on its design being a square box on wheels it's not likely to be tipped over. The more common shaped space heaters like the towers or ones that sit on a small narrow plastic base and are top heavy are far more likely to be tipped over. UPDATE ON THIS: I tested it and it does have a tipping safety feature and will turn off. It's pretty quick to turn off and even when it's turned back up right you have to turn it back on. It still would take some effort to knock over, but it's nice to know it's there. Overall, I'd definitely recommend buying one, or three. I know they're more expensive than other heaters with similar specs and features, but the build quality alone should be enough for people to consider it. You'll spend more on this heater than others but it will also last you a lot longer. I suspect we'll have these for many many years.
Review: Great supplemental heater - We bought this heater to use in our living room and kitchen/dining area. We have all baseboard heat and our heating bills are usually through the roof. This heater does a good job and we are very happy, but there are a few things to point out. 1. It is a smaller heater than you might expect. It is half the price of an eden pure...but be advised that it's about half the size of the eden pure my parents have. That said, I think I'd rather have two of these than one eden pure that way I can space them out more. 2. This thing won't heat a 1000 sq/ft area. We use it in a 250-300 sq/ft living room that has an opening to our kitchen dining room that is about 250 sq/ft. It will heat up the room and maintain when it is as cold as the 20's outside...colder than that and we need to use our baseboard w/ this heater to get it up to temp (in about 10 minutes mind you)...and then this heater will do a great job of maintaining that heat on it's own. We did this down to about 4-5 degrees(F) outside and it worked great. 3. Haven't got a clue on heating bill, but it does draw some serious current. I have blown our breaker more than once by using this heater and our vacuum on the same outlet (always forget the heater is on...see 4) 4. Heater is very quiet and you won't even realize the thing is on except for seeing the orange glow back inside of the heater. 5. The wheels are awesome. We usually heat the living room for a few hours, then wheel it into the kitchen dining room for 20 minutes, then back for a couple hours.....super easy to do as you walk by and keeps both rooms at a comfy 71-74 degrees. Bottom line is it is a great heater. It is drawing a lot of current but probably not more than 2 baseboard heaters that we virtually don't use now.....which have their own breaker each. I'd recommend it highly as it really gives you the cozy feeling that you don't get with those heaters that heat the air....compared to this one that heats you and the objects in the room. You can really tell the difference.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Could you mount one of these on a roomba and heat your whole house?**
A: No - these do not heat 1000 sq feet as advertised. I have one per room and each room is 200-300 sq ft. They run a LOT and my ele bill is no better off than before. I cannot imagine trying to heat 1000 sq ft. Perhaps in a room that is extremely well insulated with a very very low ceiling - and where it doesn't get below 50 F. I do not recommend this or any other infrared heater.

**Q: The description says infrared heater heats up objects, not air. Yet this unit has a fan to distribute hot air. I see a contradiction here.**
A: In reality all these so called IR heaters are fan forced convection heaters. If they didn't heat the air in the room the room wouldn't be very comfortable. All this malarkey about two kinds of heat is carefully worded to imply some sort of increased efficiency and just increases the complexity of the heater. I would choose this heater over the EdenPure but the truth is I would choose neither because of the price and the hype that they are somehow more efficient than other 1500 watt heaters.

**Q: Can the heater be plugged in to a corded surge strip or does it have to be plugged directly into a wall outlet?**
A: To avoid the unit resetting and showing 90 in the display, you must plug it directly into a properly wired wall outlet directly. My iHeater 1500 by Holmes kept resetting this year and I was about to trash it when I simply tried a new wall outlet. So, if your unit runs briefly and then shuts down or resets try an outlet with no adapter, power strip, or extension cord and see if that gets it working for you again.

**Q: what is cost of electricity ?**
A: zoncustomer... you are confusing two separate things. HIs electricity is costing him 14 cents per killowatt (use one kilowatt for an hour and it costs you 14 cents). So if the heater uses 1500 watts, or 1.5 kilowatts per hour, then it costs 21 cents an hour or 1.5 X .14 cents=.21 cents.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My Favorite Heater for Comfort and Convenience
*by C***T on March 21, 2026*

I’ve been using the Dr Infrared Heater DR-998, and honestly, it’s one of the best heaters I’ve owned. It warms up my space quickly and keeps it consistently comfortable without that harsh, dry heat some heaters give off. What I really appreciate is the built-in humidifier it makes a noticeable difference, especially in the winter when the air gets so dry. I don’t wake up feeling stuffy or uncomfortable, which has been a big plus for me. I also love how easy it is to use. The remote is convenient, the oscillation helps spread the heat evenly, and I feel good knowing it has solid safety features. It’s a little heavier than some heaters, but the wheels make moving it around simple. Overall, it just works reliable, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. It’s become my go-to for staying warm without sacrificing comfort.
