Best fan I have ever bought! *UPDATE 2017, 2019, 2021*
#1 they are not joking when they say 'high velocity'. My room is pretty large and the wind hits the back wall, and back through the room. Talk about a nice cool down.#2 No moving parts that my 15 month old can get into. He has stuck his fingers in the slots with no initial worry from me he would get them chopped off like with a standard circular fan. He knows now not to stick his fingers in there, even though he wouldn't get hurt.#3 remote control of the fan is a plus.#1 con- the other reviews shared about the oscillation turning no more than 45 degrees. Well that's true, and it kind of sucks. I feel the room could be better cooled if the fan had better oscillating range. This is my only mechanical complaint. The fan came Fully assembled, as it states on the box. So it was easy plug- in- play.I recommend this fan if you don't like moving parts for safety reasons (small children) and you like a fast cooled room.UPDATE 25 Apr 2017 This fan is still going strong after 3 years! It was worth what I paid for, as we use this off and on all year long; to cool or to circulate the air. You do have to clean the dust bunnies every now and then, just like any other fan, but I put this up there as a best Buy!UPDATE 2019: Still have this fan. It’s taken a beating all these years. The only thing that has happened is the oscillation now has a ‘thunk’ sound when it comes back from the left. It’s not too loud but loud enough to notice. It still going strong though. We clean it (use compressed air) to get the dust bunnies out, when needed. No other complaints. We also bought an updated version of this fan for another room. Best fans out there imo. We will only by this brand. 🙂Update 2021This fan is still going strong. The oscillation knocks, but other than that, it still works. We clean it on a regular basis with canned air. I bought other for another room 2 yrs ago and today I’m buying another. I will not buy another brand.

I Love This Awesome Fan :-)
This is an extremely powerful "blower" type fan. It is not really intended to be used in a home, but I do. It's target market are large areas such as automotive garage and such. But I have special needs and use it in my home.TLDR: Very Powerful High Velocity Fan of Totally Unique Design, Not as Noisy as Some Say, It's Powerful Air Stream When Pointed At You Has a Great "Wind Chill Effect" That Will Turn Sitting in An 80 degree Room Make You Feel Like You Are Outdoors On a Windy Autumn Day.I live in a midrise building in the Metro D.C. Area. It is constructed very well with cinder block and brick that retains heat very well, which is great in the winter but not so great in the spring. Rather than an individual heat-pump for each unit it has a central HVAC system that creates either heat or A.C, but has to be "changed over" from one to the other according to the season. While the management is pretty good about changing over from heat to A/C early, there is always at least a 3-4 week period before the heat is turned off while the temp outside during the day ranges from 70 to 80. This coming Monday it will be in the low 80's and all week will be in the hi 70's, but the heat will still be on (hot water will be running throught a large nine story building which brings heat to my unit even if with my HVAC convector unit turned off. Because of its solid construction the building will retain that heat within my unit.). The temperature in my unit is usually 10+ degrees warmer than the outside air while the heat remains on.This fan will not lower a room's temperature, but have it pointed at you and it's wind chill factor will literally act as an airconditioner within a narrowly focused degree range (Wind-chill is the perceived decrease in air temperature felt by the body on exposed skin due to the flow of air.) The fan is able to throw its airflow for long distances. My living room is only 25' long so am not able to tell you its maximum air throw ability.I sit approximately 7 feet from the fan. It is so powerful I only need to run it on low where the noise level is a surprising low level and not irritating, pleasnt white-noise. But even on high, it is not that loud, condsidering it is a high velocity fan. And the wind speed it generates at high will literally blow stuff off your table or desk, so it is unlikely you would use the fan at the high setting without the fan being relatively far from you, thus reducing the noise you hear. The fan has louvers that allow you to adjust the direction of the wind flow vertically. It also oscilates. On/off/speed/and oscilaiation all can be set via the remote. It also has a timer function. Once the A/C is turned on in my building I will use it to bring cold air nore efficiently from my living room, where the HVAC convector is located, to the adjoing dining room area and use the oscilation featureI have been using Lasko products for years and have found them to be reasonably priced and problem free and durable.

One word describes this fan: POWERFUL!
This fan will blow you away literally!I like loud and powerful fans... and if you're anything like me you'll like this one. In the past I would just have a desk fan sitting like a foot away from my face, while sleeping. But in my current place I don't have an end-table by my bed so I have to resort to a standing fan that is about 15 feet away from me.Now, I've tried out quite a few pedestal fans and most of them will give you a slight breeze that doesn't quite give you that tornado ripping through your room feeling that I was so dying for. This one definitely delivers on the airflow... and if you like a noisy fans, this one will definitely excite you.THE POSITIVES:- Extremely powerful airflow on HIGH. Feels like you have an F5 tornado in your room. (Even on LOW it has great airflow. Probably around a F2.)- Extremely LOUD... This is either a positive or a negative for you. On HIGH setting though it does sound like a JET is outside of your window.THE NEGATIVES:- Extremely LOUD... This is a negative for those that don't want to go deaf by age 40.- The remote is basic... Not like you really need an LCD screen on your fan remote or anything. ;) The remote does get the job done though.FINAL VERDICT:It's a great fan for people like me that want a powerful and loud fan that makes them feel like they're in a wind tunnel. You can also use this fan in large rooms in which you want to keep cool in the hot summer. The Lasko 4930 is definitely a home-run.P.S: You might want to sleep with earplugs if you plan on sleeping with it on HIGH setting... because I wasn't kidding about the deaf by age 40 part. :)
