Voltage spikes at higher rpms.
The voltage regulator did not work! I installed a week later after I got it. Took it out to the lake the next day and found out the voltage kept spiking to 15.5 volts anywhere above 3000 rpm. It does not charge at engine idle speed either. Would not recommend it.

Perfect Replacement for My Mercury Bigfoot
I have a 2004 pontoon with a 2003 Mercury bigfoot 40HP 4stroke on it. Had dead battery issues this spring and after a new battery, still had issues so I did some digging and found the voltage regulator burnt out. (See Pic) . Well with covid, boat parts are scarce so my mercury dealer Quotes me the part at $184 but has none in stock. No one does. I told him i'll get back to him and did some research. What I found is mercury quit making parts for my 2003 motor in 2008 when the design changed so all parts are aftermarket only. I go on line and Amazon has many options but none in stock so I have some more time to research. Reading reviews on many websites, I find this part is my best option so I order it and wait a month for the back-order to come in. I understand from my research the Stator feeds the Regulator and should be checked first /also but decide I can chance the $52 for this item. A simple bolt on and engine fires right up. 13.5 volts and three weeks later, here I am writing a review. Dont pay your dealer the Mercury price for an after market part. This part fit my 2003 Bigfoot 40 HP perfectly....
