This is my first aquarium and the skilter was recommended to me. It has Been running a month now and I havent had any issues, also it is easy to clean.

I thought this was going to be the perfect filter but it just doesn't work. The protein skimmer doesn't produce enough foam to be useful unless you turn it up so high that it fills the entire filter with air so you're pushing super oxygenated water into your tank and even then it doesn't work great. Good idea if they could perfect it a little.

Love it and returning customer to the same model that once had this Skilter back 1994-2001.

Skimmer is too noisy. I had to modify the unit by drilling a hole in the top and using a wooden air diffuser rather than the built in Venturi. It skims very well and operates silently now.

Excelente funcionamiento

I used to love Skilter filters for my salt tanks. I have fish only tanks so I don't need a high end skimmer. This was perfect. However, there must be a decline in quality control. This thing stopped functioning literally every day. The impeller set up binds and then it sits there heating itself up all day. You have to disassemble the intake impeller assembly put it all back together again, only to have it stop in a few minutes or hours. Eventually I broke the grey impeller seat and jammed it in the motor. It's loose but it works now. This is NOT the old skilter you may have been used to. The plastic is thinner, the skimmer reservoir does not seat properly, it goes together rather loosely. Save yourself the headache and buy a decent mechanical filter and separate decent skimmer. ………………………………………….

Great product, great service.

The suction power was insufficient to actually function. Then the motor died after 2 days. Difficult to assemble and parts did not fit snugly. Nice concept but a big fail.
