Versatile, improved over original
We had purchased the original DXR-8 monitor and camera system about 5 years ago. It had worked very well over the years, but the usb charging port became looser and looser, and the system finally would not charge. Since we had also two cameras invested, we wanted to continue with the same system. This was a great alternative. While some may argue that the USB charging port is a bit more universal and easy to plug in, I like the security of the round-pin charging port, and not having to worry about the USB port failing in the future (FYI I tried to dismantle the old unit to see if I can replace the USB charging port, but there are some detailed micro-solders in there I wasn't able to get to). The unit is otherwise excellent, holds a charge fairly well, and the daytime picture is excellent. The night vision is limited somewhat in it's range, as the illuminating infrared leds are not too bright, but since our cameras are mounted over the kids' beds, they are adequate. I especially enjoy the fact that these are not connected via Wi-Fi. What you give up in convenience, you gain in privacy. Overall, very satisfied with the system!

Perfect replacement for Infant Optics baby monitor
We have had an Infant Optics baby monitor system with 2 cameras and a solo monitor for more than 6 years and it has worked flawlessly all these years. Unfortunately a few months ago, the monitor got dropped on the hardwood floor by accident and the antenna just snapped off hanging literally by a thin wire. Since that day, the monitor only worked in close proximity of the cameras and would lose signal if we moved more than 20 ft away. So finally ordered a replacement. The replacement monitor was easy to set up and I was able to pair it with both cameras in under 2 mins. From then on, it was smooth sailing again. For $99, I would have liked to see a battery included with the monitor but I guess the title on amazon clearly states it is not so can't blame the company for it. Overall very happy with the monitor.

Reliable baby monitor
I decided on infant optics two years ago when my son was born. We have been pretty happy with the product but the mini USB plug was getting loose over time so it was having trouble holding a charge. We have external chargers so we made it work. Finally my son threw it and the power button was stuck down, unable to be fixed with our current skills. I decided to try one of the wifi options for baby monitors on amazon which were cheaper than buying a new infant optics monitor. Was very unhappy with it and immediately got back on Amazon and found this new monitor with the plug. Works great with my old system and I'm happy the plug will be more reliable in theory (have not had the chance to test it yet). It does not come with a battery but our old battery fit perfect. It does come with two chargers which I appreciate since it is unique. Product was out of stock but still arrived earlier than expected which was a nice bonus.

Love and hate relationship
This is a very good baby monitor but you have to know it’ll likely die on you in a year or two. We have owned 3 of these monitors in the past 3 years. We pair it to two cameras for two kiddos and when it works, it’s great. The first one lasted a little over two years (we replaced the battery once in that time). It just stopped working. It would not turn on. I purchased a second one to replace the first (it did not occur to me to call customer service at the time). However, the same thing happened to the second one, it died and would not turn on, but this time it was only after owning it 8 months. I called customer service and they promptly sent me a new one after I gave them what they needed. I had a very good experience with them. So, the short end of it is 1) this is a good monitor, 2) BUT it will probably die on you in a year or two with regular use, and 3) the customer service is great....call them and you’ll likely get a replacement. If it were not for #3, I’d rate this product a lot lower.

Works perfectly
We’ve had our infant optics monitor for 5.5 years now. We added a second camera when our son was born in 2020. The only issue we’ve ever had is the antenna on the monitor breaking. It was hanging by a thread for 1-2 years and just finally broke off this week. This prevented it from syncing with the camera in our daughter’s room. I refused to buy this replacement last year because I just find $100 astronomical for the monitor only (not even a battery!). However, I had no choice once the antenna broke off completely. Aside from the outrageous price tag, this replacement works well. I was able to synch it with our existing cameras in seconds and the picture quality is slightly better than it was before. I haven’t even ended to use the antenna but it’s very stable. The only other negative is they changed the charging port from a generic USB to a tiny single skinny pronged round plug. It comes with 1 plug cord and 1 cord that plugs into a USB outlet (which was great for each side of our bed), but I had to order 2 more generic plugs for other parts of our house. So tack another $10 onto the price for that. Overall it works and does what it says. I just wish it was about half the price!

If you buy this, BUY THE EXTRA WARRANTY
To start out, I had really liked this monitor. Operative word being "had." I have owned it now for 3 months. We purchased the monitor and 2 cameras plus the wide angle lens for our 3rd baby. I like the ability to monitor their rooms when not directly with them, especially with a newborn. One of our children is also special needs and his therapists do in home work with him several days a week. I like to see what's going on without being intrusive. Across the board, this set was great until we were 2 days out of the return window. What I didn't take into account is that I would be traveling with the monitor all day long. Up and down the stairs, into the yard, etc. I have had 3 other monitors and they were quite durable. I could clip them on me and go. This monitor lacks the clip and instead only has a rather flimsy stand that I can hook a finger in as I walk around with it. The other monitors lacked some of the features of this monitor (scan, up to 4 cameras linked, etc.) so we splurged for this one. Unfortunately this monitor is in no way durable. One drop, from at most, 2 feet and the screen is shattered. I was devastated. And it was only 2 days outside of the return window. So now, after ordering a replacement monitor, batteries and the replacement protection plan...we are now all in for around $500+. I have learned my lesson with items like this. In a nutshell: 1) The cameras are pretty good quality. Obviously the center is most focused and they are not in any way like looking through a nikon. They're a little fuzzy. I do like that you can purchase additional lenses for wide angle viewing. 2) Absolutely NOT DURABLE if you have to walk around with it. One drop or bang and your monitor is toast. They are not worth the $100 replacement pricetag. I have had 3 others that were a much stronger design and yes I or my husband dropped each. They all survived with little more than a scratch. 3) Customer service with this company is not good. Good luck if you have a problem or inquiry. They do not care and won't help. I got a pithy 5 sentence response that basically amounted to "Sucks to be you." After dropping more money to replace the monitor I broke, I contacted them to see if anything could be done. I asked if they had a protective cover since the design is sadly so flimsy. I was met with a response that no monitor has that. Ok. Thank you. I gathered that, so why not politely consider making one? Especially considering the monitor itself is so very fragile when its touted to be mobile. I would buy a cover for this and I'm sure others would too. Maybe consider making a clip on feature as well. Maybe care about your customers who are spending hundreds of dollars on your products. Listen to them and take what they want and need into consideration. After all, your products are purchased by us, for us. 4) The battery only lasted, at full charge, around 6 hours. So never a full night. Waking up to beeping at 4am, does not make me happy. Leaving it plugged in all night ruins batteries so...maybe another way to get money from customers. In my opinion, after spending so much on this product, just to have it break SO easily...either buy a different monitor entirely or make sure you buy the protection plan for this and hope for the best. It is fragile and will break and you will be wasting your hard earned money to replace. After this, I would not recommend this product due to the poor design and customer service. I wish I could. I had really liked it. It's a shame. Update Now having to use the warranty on the second monitor because it will not stay connected to wifi. When it loses wifi, it beeps loudly and incessantly until it reconnects. I could allow for it being my internet but we pay for the highest tier internet and this thing drops connection while EVERYTHING ELSE IS STILL STREAMING. I wish so much that I had never purchased this garbage. I am doing the extended warranty and have to send this monitor in, wait for them to approve it, then they mail us a check to buy a new unit. If I wait for the check, it will be weeks before it arrives and I am without a fully functioning monitor.

Great customer service
We have been using our Infant Optics monitors for many years. After lots of use and a few drops, we needed to replace our viewing screen unit. However, after only a few months it stopped working. I can’t say enough good things about the customer service team. They were timely in their responses and got us a new unit quickly. It is working great!

Overpriced
I've had to buy this monitor 3 or 4 times in 8 years because it doesn't last. At first the battery just dies quickly but then it just won't turn on at all. There are some features I don't like. You can't have the monitor set at a different volume for different cameras. This is annoying if the level of noise varies between rooms you are trying to monitor (sleeping baby in one, playing children in another). Also, you can't simply turn off one camera if you don't need to just it, you have to actually delete (unpair) it. That's especially annoying if it's mounted in a spot that makes it difficult to get to to add it back on. For example if one of my kids (we have 3, in 3 different rooms) sleeps on the floor of my room rather than in his own bed for one night. I don't need the monitor to cycle through his room that night but want it back to normal the next night without having to go through the hassle of pairing it with the monitor again. Also the connectivity is lacking. It will often tell me it is out of range when it when normally work in that room. It is a frustrating system but we don't want to invest in a whole new system when we only have a few years left of using a monitor. Sometimes for no apparent reason it gets weird and makes the entire screen have a strange red hue that makes it difficult to see the picture. Usually turning it (the camera) off and back on again helps resolve it. I do like that it pretty accurately displays the room temp of wherever the camera is.
