CrayolaColor Alive Action Coloring Pages - Skylanders

The Crayola Color Alive is an amazing innovation to coloring. My kids LOVE their technology, but I miss watching them simply color and draw. This product is an awesome combination of the 2. I bought this for my 8 year old son and he loves it. He gets to color awesome pictures of some of his favorite characters and the best part is, they come to life with his tablet. Yes, you have to download an app from the app store, but it is free. It works on his ipad mini 3. It is really quite neat to watch the Skylander jump off the page. Once you get the character scanned and bring them to life, you can place them on a shelf or have them sit on your sister's head (that's what my son did).The book comes with a set of 7 crayons, 1 of which is a special Ice Blast crayon. The Ice Blast Crayon is part of the special effects that come alive with the app. He can use his other crayons or markers on the pages as well. I think it is absolutely amazing that not only does the Skylander come to life, but the colors that you color them with are actually the colors that come to life as well.The only complaint that my son and I have is that there needs to be more pages. There are 16 pages to color, and each page has a different Skylander. I appreciate the absence of duplicates. Other than that, this is a great item.

First one came smashed the book was all bent crayons smashed. Second one was in good shape though.

Let me tell you what. This just takes coloring to a whole new level! While I wish the app did a few other things, we had nooo problem with it. It was so awesome, even my dog got in to this. Im using a ipad for the app. Im so excited, I actually shared this little coloring book experience with the people on FaceBook! I don't do that often cause I get sick of their motivational quotes (we all know you don't live your lives like that, stop lying).Anywhoooo. I ordered the rest last night that are available. Im gonna be using the Dragon coloring book for myself. Im a huge Game of Thrones fan and I plan on loading them up on my iPad and having them sit on my couch for the season opener. This new coloring book thing is the biiizzzzzneeessss. I went ahead and put a picture here. My dog was really lonely until my spawn colored a picture and made him a friend. Now he's back to normal and giving that thing rides around the house.Xoxoxox

My son was so excited to get this in his Easter basket. He spent so much time coloring one of the pages only to find out that the app does not work properly on any of our devices. We have an ipad 2, nexus tablet, an iphone 5s, and a samsung galaxy s4. Downloaded the app on all devices and nothing! It just sucks because I can't return it to the store and there's no point in paying for shipping to mail it back to amazon. Crayola should have clarified that you need a new device in order for the app to work properly. My son and I are very disappointed.

I bought this for my 6 year old grandson who loves Skylander characters. The coloring pages are printed large enough for him to see detail but still accommodate his current level of coloring ability and coordination. The app feature is really cool. It turns the colored pages into 3-d, projecting the colors my grandson already applied. You have to be sure to use the "special" gray crayon to get this effect, though. We sure didn't have coloring books like this when I was his age! I hope Crayola continues to make more like this. Very fun for kids.

Kept my 5 and 6 year olds entertained for about 2 days. The coloring book is pretty much a standard one but once you point your smartphone at it with the Color Alive app running the characters come to life. Sort of. Had lots of trouble getting the app to work properly on my LG G2 phone: You can't control the app's built-in camera settings to enable the flash, zoom, white balance, etc. So my pages always came out muddy, dark and out of focus. Worked slightly better on an iPod Touch so it might have just been a quirk with the LG G2.Even with the iPod the app has trouble finding the picture and animating it. It takes several tries until it acquires it. For young children this is extremely frustrating. Also, it takes ~30 seconds for the app to launch. Not sure what it's trying to do but it seems like it's unnecessary given what the app is designed to do.Once the coloring book is finished the animations start to become repetitive and children will lose interest so pace yourself with the pages.

My son loved these!!!I would have given it 5 stars if we were able to buy a box of the "special" crayons that come in each book, but it looks as though Crayola doesnt make that yet. I understand that there is nothing particularly special about the crayons themselves other than they have an area on the crayon wrapper to scan, but I think they should do that with a box of 24 crayons!

crap! dont buy. app doesn't work, only can get color alive 2.0 in England. my son is very upset, its a waste of money!
