Pet Tag Silencer Clip It On, Jingle's Gone! -Clear

A long, but honest opinion...
Over several years of owning dogs, I have tried many tag silencers. I've tried the low priced rubber shapes that go around the edges of the tags which help the tags to be quieter, but when that rubber goes stale, they make just as much noise as ever! Others have fallen off or just didn't work. This little silencer WORKED!I admit, I tried to put it on without looking at the pictures and couldn't figure it out. After doing that for a minute, I looked at the picture instructions and learned that I HAD to use the little ring that came with it. It was pretty easy to take the tags off the old ring and get them onto the new ring, then slide the zig-zagged clip on. The whole process, from opening the shipping envelope to having the tags back on the collar took about 5 minutes - even with the failed tries. The tags were TOTALLY SILENT and I could still read our dog's name and phone number! No jingles from your pup as they scratch or move around as you are trying to sleep makes this product totally worth the cost (which is still at the lower end of most silencers on the market).about a month later, we had a "user error" moment. A family member accidentally hooked the leash onto the tag's ring. When our large puppy pulled, the ring bent and the tags fell off. The tags were still together and silenced even when the ring was broken, though!!! I wasn't able to figure out the size of the bent ring to replace it so I posted the question here on the Questions section. Just a few hours later, the Seller actually answered my size question AND OFFERED TO SEND ME A REPLACEMENT RING!!!! Now that is old fashioned customer service at it's finest! I replied back offering to pay for the replacement as well as gave my address. Less than a week later, I received replacement rings at no cost!!! They stated that they just wanted us to be happy with the product and wanted to help!!!THANK YOU SILEN TAGS!!! I have now shared this story with everyone who will listen and always show off our quiet tags. People are always surprised to notice that there is more than one tag on our dog's collar since there is absolutely no noise when our dog walks, runs or even scratches behind his ears.

Good Idea but Way Too Much Hassle
After figuring out the confusing directions that came with the SilenTags Pet Tag Silencer, I finally succeeded (with the help of a pair of pliers) in getting all four of my dog's tags contained within the "silencer." They didn't jingle anymore, but the four tags clumped together and attached to a harness D-ring made a heavy "lump" that banged up and down on my dog's back as she ran around in the park. A few weeks later, she was due for her 3-year rabies vaccination, so I needed to swap out the old rabies tag for the new one. To do so, I needed to remove all four tags from the silencer (you can't remove just one). Try as I might -- even using my trusty pliers -- I had one heck of a time getting the "silencer" off. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to use it again . . . ever.

Good idea but has flaws
Over the lifetime of my current dogs (13 years), I have struggled to find a silencer for the tags on their collar. I have tried every silencer on the market and even made a few of my own. Each and every time the silencer fails. The longest I have had a silencer work was just over 1 years. I found this silencer after that failure (March 2020) and decided to give it a try.The silencer works good but it has a few flaws. First, the silencer doesn't cover enough of the tags to prevent the metal bottoms from hitting the leash ring. Second, the silencer has fallen off the tags twice.Thankfully both times I was able to locate it and put it back on. The tags are a normal metal dog bone ID tag and a thicker QR locate tag. The only thing the dogs are doing when the silencer falls off is shaking their head, as if they just got out of the water. My dogs shake their heads like this at least a dozen times a day. Apparently that repetitive movement is enough to allow the silencer to work its way off the tags. For now, I will be sticking with these silencers and have purchase another set in case I don't find it next time it falls off. However, as soon as a new better silencer comes out this one will be headed to the trash.

Works best with two or more tags
I bought two of these for my chihuahuas - one of them had 2 tags and the other just 1 at the time of purchase. The single tag was still pretty noisy, but was equally noisy with the plastic silencer attached. When my 2nd tag arrived for her, these work as expected. It is also worth noting that my dogs are able to roll around enough (in the grass, on our carpet) to get these to pop off. That has happened twice so far, so now I'm in the habit of checking to see if they're still attached. I am pleased with how well they silence the jingle now that I've figured these things out.

Worth it for peace & quiet!
This thing works!! Our big pup would wake us up every time he got up at night because his two tags would rattle so loudly. But this has silenced them and we didn’t get woken up once last night!A couple things:- it does come with a jump ring, but I used a different one I had because it is sturdier and my dog is quite big & strong. It made it a little bit harder to install the clip because it was a smaller diameter, but I recognize that was my choice. But for most dogs I’m sure the wider jump ring the product came with would work just fine-one drawback: you can’t quite spread out the tags enough to read what’s on the one behind the one in front. The edges of the tags hit the edges of the plastic when you try to fan them out. Since I just had two tags on his collar (ID & rabies) I just made sure the sides with the important info faced outward. So they are back to back with the side of the ID tag with our phone number facing forward and the side of his rabies tag with the registration number facing backwards. That way heaven forbid he gets lost, whoever find him doesn’t have to try and figure out what this clip is and how to get it off in order to find out how to reach us.Bottom line: I highly recommend it! The instant peace and quiet from silencing the tags has been SO nice.
