Review: Only Lasts One Year in the can... Or does it... Great Product! - I bought this 2 years ago to fix large holes in my Travertine floor on my patio (in Arizona). I was able to procrastinate for 2 years and finally I had to take some action. I looked at howm to videos on youtube and visited the manufacturers site where I learned this stuff is only good for a year in the can! When I opened it I could see why they say one year, the product separated just like a good oil based paint will. Wondering if I could bring it back to life I bent up a heavy metal coat-hanger into a stir stick and put into my drill and went to work. I also put on my 3M painting mask to keep the fumes from killing me and went to work outside. It took a bit to bring it back to life but this worked and the product worked great! You don't need much hardener and it sets pretty quick but fixed all big holes like a charm and it looks fantastic! I would highly recommend this product and also recommend to use it when you buy it...
Review: Works perfectly; just follow the directions - Tenax Travertine filler works exactly as advertised. I used it to fill cracks in about ten 12" x 12" marble floor tiles and in two ceramic tiles with a similar color. The cracks in the marble now look like natural veins in the stone. The cracks in the ceramic tiles are invisble. I also use it to fill a hole in one marble tile that was about 1" x ½ " across and about ½" deep, and it looks very good. Based on the aroma, it's a styrene-polyester resin similar to the material used to make fiberglass boats. It has a strong styrene and solvent odor and you should only use it in a ventilated area. You mix a small amount of peroxide into the resin to cause a chemical reaction that gives off heat and cures the resin, although the heat is imperceptible when you mix the small quantities needed for repairing cracks. You have to make very small batches because the mixed resin & catalyst start to gel in less than 5 minutes. Take a thumb-sized amount of the resin from the can and squeeze an amount of catalyst equal to the size of a chocolate bit out of the plastic tube and onto the blob of resin. Mix the two immediately a with a flat bladed spatula or a wood shim split lengthwise -- something stiff and flat. Mix it quickly and thoroughly, put some of the mixture on a spackling knife and use the knife blade to wipe the filler into the crack as fast as you can. You can clean up with glass scraper by waiting until the filler cures hard (about 30 minutes) or you can wipe the excess off with a paper towel dampened with a solvent like Goof Off or acetone. It's best to use vinyl gloves rather than work with you bare hands, but you can clean your hands with the same solvents. The 12 lineal feet or so of thin cracks that I filled plus the small hole used about 1/20th of what's in a one liter can (almost a quart). It's buff colored as it comes out of the can but Tenax makes pigments to make it darker, so you could adjust it to a darker marble. Just be sure to mix very small quantities and you'll be OK.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: My travertine shower wall has a 3/4" x 1/2 " shallow hole/crack from being banged by a shower rod. Can I use this to repair it?**
A: Yes. You may want to try to "undercut" the hole so that the patch stays put. However, undercutting your hole may be tricky in this case and require some delicate work. I might suggest using a drill with a small diamond bit, and use like you would a Dremel tool.

**Q: Does it harden like a rock or it has a rubbery feel once cured ?**
A: It hardens like a rock unless you mix it wrong.

**Q: Is this the same color as cecominod049620 (smaller 125 ml can on amazon for $17.95) ? if not, which is the lighter color? thanks**
A: Yes, they're the same color.
Both the 1-liter can (model CECOMINOD090802) and the 125-mL can (model CECOMINOD049620) show "buff" as their color.

**Q: What color is it?**
A: Ivory. I had to add colorant to make it look right with my dark Travertine. The Tenax colorant is very concentrated. One drop added to a small amount of filler was plenty.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does the job.

This gets the job done. I used it not only for holes in the travertine floor, but also for those pesky small pits. It stabilized a lot of the tiles that had too much wear. However, if sun is shining across the floor, you can see where the areas that were pitted were filled, and it leave a dull patch. It is better for the holes. The buff color is great and blends well. You have to learn to work with it. It drys extremely rapidly, so I only mix a teaspoon at a time with a couple of small drops of the hardener. All in all, it is the best I have found. I deep cleaned, used this product for holes and pits, and resealed. The floors are looking new.
