Don't consider it a novel and everything will be okay
how this qualifies as a novel is beyond me, but it's great, especially if you are a fan of Harmony Korine, of absurdism, of surrealism. here are a whole slew of seemingly random "pieces" ranging from one word (hepburn) to one and a half pages. dont try to pretend there is any continuity or story here, just enjoy it.also, fans of Blake Butler will probably dig this, i know i did

If you enjoy smoking crack and/or huffing solvents
This book was written when Harmony Korine was still heavy into drugs and it's very evident in the composition. If you enjoy smoking crack and/or huffing solvents, you will most likely enjoy this book.

Don't worry about bills or how to eat. Worry about buying this book and enjoying every word in it.

Either a Bunch of Hype, or It Went Entirely Over My Head...?
Strange, experimental book, where each piece could easily stand alone and ideas skate roughshod from one place to another as effortlessly and inexplicably as clouds reflected in broken mirrors. There is absolutely no obvious through-line to this book, no narrator, no narrative really, no conventionally connected storyline--just a series of lists and ideas that seem to accumulate into something for both the author and publisher, but something that escaped me entirely on my first read. The only time present is time within each tiny and seemingly larval idea lump, there's no sense of progress or building toward anything.I'm guessing this is what is considered by some to be its genius. I'm gonna have to give it some time, then read it again.

Wow
I love Harmony korine in his movies but this thing reads like a meth head on a month-long Bender Road it. A good book to add to your collection if you are a fan of harmonies but if you don't care about the guy or know anything about him you probably won't like this.

As original in its voice and subjects as his films
Harmony Korine's novel is as original as his films. As Werner Herzog notes, this is a completely new voice in fiction. Korine scrapes the underbelly of racist America and spreads pop-culture filth, concocting a novel out of the trash we consume and hump. See his interview on Letterman about this novel--it's as priceless as the book he was "promoting."
