yummy health bar
I have a gnu bar practically every day and they are by far my favorite bar. They only have 140 calories and four grams of fat (unlike a lot of bars that have so many calories and fat that they should only be eaten as a meal and not a snack). Plus, they have 12 grams of fiber! Yes, 12 grams - or half the amount of fiber you need per day. These bars can help if you find you're not eating at least five servings of fruit/veggies a day. Plus, the fiber is good for your health and very filling. They're great for breakfast or for a snack. In my opinion, the best flavors are chocolate brownie, espresso chip, Gnu Foods - Gnu Bar Espresso Bars, 16 bar and Gnu Foods - Gnu Bar Orange Cranberry, 16 bar . I think anyone would probably find the first two tasty. The orange cranberry is not for everyone. I love it because it reminds me of the orange rind candy my Grandmother used to make. If you don't like kumquats, you probably wouldn't like the orange flavor. The cinnamon raisin and peanut butter are OK, but kind of boring in taste. The Lemon Ginger has quite a bit of flavor, but is not to my liking.Note, they are recommended by Weight Watchers and Hungrygirl. It's much cheaper to buy them on Amazon than to buy them in the store. The only reason I gave them four stars instead of five is because they are fairly expensive.

Tastes good, and is yummy...
but my poor sensitive tummy couldn't handle them! It's not the fault of GNU Bars though (I have IBS). I had to give my bars away to family members, who are able to handle good bulky fiber bars. They love them though. I feel I'm out a good $16 though. Good news is that if you're not sensitive to gluten/wheat/or chicory root inulin, then you'll probably do well on these. They are small bars (not even as large as FiberOne's bulky treats). They are thick and chocolaty, but not dry. They didn't taste like a chocolate brownie to me, but they came within a hair of tasting like a treat. The bars are jam-packed with fiber to regulate your system, if you can handle them. Another good thing, is that they aren't too sweet. Unfortunately, these bars left with IBS attacks for days.If you're stomach is built like a linebacker's, and can rough out the fiber, then you'll enjoy GNU bars!

Fabulous Fiber
Don't let the name fool you. This isn't a food from the Great Space Coaster! Founded in 2004, Gnu Foods is a small company that believes in maintaining an all natural philosophy, making foods that are targeted at addressing specific nutritional needs and health conditions. As you probably already know, I'm a huge fiber fanatic. I've made my case before about how important it is to a healthy diet, and to a healthy lifestyle. With the average American consuming only 5 of the recommended 25 - 35 grams a day, however, it is obvious that getting enough fiber in your diet is relatively challenging.Gnu Bar - Flavor and Fiber makes this challenge virtually nonexistent. Flavor & Fiber, Gnu Foods' first product, is a nutrition bar; and after having tried them recently, I'm addicted. On a scale of 5, they get a 5. Here's why: 1. Nutrition Quality: At a mere 130 - 140 calories a bar (depending on the flavor), these flavorful snacks pack a whopping 12 grams of fiber (including both soluble and insoluble) into your day. That is practically 50% of the recommended daily intake, within approximately 5 - 10% of your caloric intake. Compared to other products on the market, Gnu Foods is a much higher quality product. 2. Taste: Gnu Bars currently come in 5 tasty flavors: Banana Walnut, Cinnamon Raisin, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Brownie and Orange Cranberry - satisfying almost any taste buds out there. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Orange Cranberry and Chocolate Brownie. If you are an Oatmeal Raisin cookie fan, however, you will find the Cinnamon Raisin Bar a delicious healthier version. 3. Texture: Soft. moist and chewy, these bars are far from their high fiber cardboard counterparts. 4. Quality of Ingredients: Quality does not get much better than these bars. Any and all sweetness comes from fruit juice and the flour is pure organic whole wheat flour. Further, Gnu Bars don't contain any of the following: High Fructose Corn Syrup, Refined Sugars (except chips in Chocolate Brownie), Cholesterol, Trans Fat, Soy, Hydrogenated Oils, Preservatives, Artificial Flavors or Colorings, Yeast, Dairy or Whey, Sugar Alcohols, Maltodextrin or Methylcellulose. These bars are pure, natural goodness. These bars can be a great daily snack to help ensure you are getting your prescribed dosage of fiber.Brett BlumenthalAuthor of "GET REAL" and STOP Dieting!: Forget the Fads, Get the Facts and Feel Fabulous

It Might Work, But It Ain't Like Any Brownie I've Ever Had
This really should be called FIBER (and some flavor). The texture of the bar is quite fibrous. I could feel my intestines appreciating that as soon as I started into one.The flavor, on the other hand, is a bit apple-fruity (perhaps from the fruit juices in it) with a bit of chocolate. Just because it's brown and has some cocoa doesn't make it a brownie.

Highly Recommend
Gnu bars are fantastic. They are tasty and truly full of fiber. The chocolate brownie is my favorite, however all the flavors are good. Cranberry orange is a bit sweet for me, as is the peanut butter. But banana nut is fantastic. The best part is that these bars do not contain any dairy. A lot of chocolate supplement bars contain milk products - this does not. A warning though - the amount of fiber in these is no joke....take caution in where you consume them, make sure there is a restroom nearby. And always drink plenty of water when eating these bars. They do keep you fuller longer than most bars, and I think they have been a tool to help me lower my cholesterol as well. Also, if you do Weight Watchers, these are only 2 or 3 points, so it makes them even more worthwhile. I've been eating these for years now, and I keep going back for more. The variety of flavors allows you to switch it up if you get bored of one flavor. I am stoked that Amazon sells these, I normally go to the Gnu Bar website...which also has excellent customer service.
