Kamikaze Sovereign Karate Gi Uniform White 100% Cotton

This is a terrific Gi! I can't recommend it enough! EXCEPT: Before they delivered it, it went through Spain for some reason. I got hit with a Tariff bill from UPS for almost $50. It would have been nice if Amazon would have either warned me or included it in the price!

The material feels like a very high thread-count bed sheet and is very soft against your skin, but different than their Europa gi, which is also very soft, but has a more bath towel feel. The Sovereign is very light, but not flimsy feeling or transparent, and the chunky lapel and wide heavily reinforced cuffs create the illusion of a heavy gi. I'm 5'11 and 190 lbs, 5.5 fits me perfectly after washing/drying a few times. My Europa is a 5 and also fits, but has the slightly short sleeves/legs going on (though the jacket fits slightly better). Kamikaze gis come out of the package big and shrink; their size chart is accurate. Both this and the Europa are very good gis. Europa is just great for versatility, never too heavy or light for any purpose or temperature, while this is more of a 3 season gi.

Many years ago I bought an entry level Kamikaze gi. I used it 4 times a week for many years. It was my favorite. It looked good it felt good, nice snapp. After that I had heavier gis but I always preferred my old Kamikaze for the way it felt while wearing it. I bought now 2 kumite polyester gis. I don’t like them. This one feels great, looks great and it’s not heavy. Highly recommend. Was shipped from Europe in 3 days.

Good material. Very comfortable. The draw string in the pants is "tunneled through" another smooth cloth, which allows much easier pants taken off after a sweaty training. Great invention !

I've been using Kamikaze gis for 15yrs now. I wanted a new and nice gi for when I teach. I was between the Monarch and the Sovereign. I chose the light Sovereign, because I have a heavy gi (America) but recently had to retire my light gi (Europa) after over a decade of service. I'm 183cm, 79kg. The size guide suggests 190cm for me, but based on previous experience with Kamikaze gis, I ordered 185cm as my shoulders and chest are not wide enough to fill the 190. As it's 100% cotton, it is made oversized to account for shrinking. After the first wash, the gi fits me almost perfectly. I like the trousers and sleeves still a bit shorter, but I expect the 2nd and 3rd washes will fix this. Even then, the design will probably not conform to the standards for kata competitions (short sleeves and trousers). It's fine for kumite though, especially if you take the one-size-bigger as recommended. The fabric is light and soft but it retains a nice crisp feel and sound. This gi is ridiculously comfortable! Unlike the heavy canvas of the America though, this one I don't think I can get away with not ironing it. Oh well...
