Baxton StudioOttoman, Dark Brown

This is an excellent storage Ottoman and I highly recommend it.1) Leather Quality - The leather quality is good. Its finish is a semi gloss shine. 5 Stars2) Leather Color - The photo is a little deceiving, its very much a very dark brown, nearly black. But it works just fine in my living room so I have no issues with it. I'm not one of the people where everything has to match, but it does have to be quality, and it is very high quality. 4 stars3) Function - The hinges that open the top to get to the storage are excellent. Once open, it stay open until you close it. The ottoman is very study as well. The wood feet are stained very dark brown, nearly black, and are also high quality with rug skids/glides. 5 stars.4) Interior - The interior is black felt. I have no issues with that.5) Comfort - I was surprised how firm the top pad is. It looks like it would be more comfortable from the photo. However, this is only an ottoman for short term sitting, so it works for me. 4 StarsOverall, this is a good value for a pure leather storage ottoman. The actual dimensions of this ottoman (at least the one that I received) are different than advertised. My ottoman is 15" (height) x 17.5" x 17.25". Also, be aware that this ottoman is made from bicast leather and composite wood. Although the materials are cheap, the ottoman does look nice, and it looks like it is pretty decent quality. When you touch it though, you can tell that the quality is not that great. I'm keeping it because it's fine for the price that I paid, and I don't want to deal with the hassle of returning. I just wish it was actually the same height as advertised and that there was some more cushioning on the lid. It's pretty hard compared to my other ottoman.

It is solidly built and sturdy. I'm putting casters under it to make it easy to move.

I bought this for use as a file cabinet next to my office chair where I do genealogy. It holds files nicely, given that you have to put a book on the end where the lid closes so it can close. But it fit them perfect and it is great ottoman for my husband when he sits here and watches television, he just wanted to have something to put his feet on. I needed somewhere to put those files. I think its nicely made, the dark brown is darker than the picture and unless you are really looking at it does appear to be black, either way it is nice and would recommend it to anyone.

Bought this mainly to use as an ottoman, the storage space is just a plus. This is comfortable and durable, and hold quite a bit of stuff inside. It is firm but perfectly comfortable. It is durable enough to withstand a beagle puppy climbing all over it, so it passes my test. A little pricey, but I don't regret buying it.

UPDATE:I received a replacement ottoman. It is much better but still has a significant crease and a few smaller creases in the top that isn't from wear since this is supposed to be new, so it must be from the original construction, storage, shipping or some combination of these. If this were in a store it might be the floor model and I'd either ask for a discount or be provided one. I will keep it given the price point. I raised my rating from 1 star to 3.ORIGINAL:The top has got deep creases and fading of the color in several spots. It appears to be a used or at the very least very poorly stored. I've requested a replacement and will update once it arrives.

Arrived assembled.Completely happy with product, except its storage area was smaller that expected. Perhaps that was my fault, not taking the dimensions "seriously" and anticipating the wood being thicker than I expected.It's a good ottoman, looks great, just don't expect a ton of storage.

Is being used as an ottoman in my office in front of a couch. Very nice looking, top grain leather. Very happy with product.
