How much weight can it lift?

Not much, I had a cheaper model which felt better made. The handle will be the first thing to break.

Is the trigger made out of plastic or metal? if the trigger is plastic all of them break off?

The trigger is made of a string plastic. It also has a strong thicker than string... that yu can always make tighter if needed. Tho the way it is already configured, it works great! I’ve bought a couple of them one for my Mom n for myself. Now if you’re trying to pick up things that are heavy, then yeah, I might can see where they can break (but not easily). It’s not made to pick up things that weigh outside what the description says—-it has a little nib on the end for you to be able to scoot it closer to yourself n then pick it up also.
