Thanks a mill ### ⭐ Beware! *by W***D on 6 May 2020* Plugged in and switched on for the first time to be met with a loud pop, unsurprisingly the stir plate didn't work. I needed it for a yeast starter the same day so returning it wasn't an option. I found up a 5v psu and established that the stir plate was still working, I had another 9v psu with the wrong size jack plug so decided to swap out the lead, I proceeded to open up the broken psu and was shocked by what I found. As you can see from the photos there is a couple of very thin wires soldered directly onto the pins of the plug and on the output side a couple of wires which have been cut off and left with bare wire showing, the jack plug lead being soldered to the reverse of these on the pcb! I'm kind of glad it popped straight away as I hate to think what would have happened had I switched it on and gone off to work.
