Fit the bill perfectly.
I really like this thing. We used it in the middle of a 10' long 3 cm thick quartz counter top/cabinets positioned against a wall in our dining room. We used a hidden power strip so we didn't have to bring outlets up above the counter top area. This fit the bill perfectly. The unit is a little smaller than I expected, with the power strip portion extended being only about 6 inches long, yet still has 4 outlets. It folds nicely out of the way when not in use. Everything worked as expected. You can see the green "protected" light when the power strip is extended. The 2 (2 amp) USB charging ports are a nice feature. A few have complained about the unit not getting a tight fit. I disagree. Just don't over cut the hole and everything will be fine. The compression clips are small but work just fine to secure the unit in place. The prongs can be turned out a bit with pliers to provide a more snug fit if necessary. The plug in cord is solid and built to last. The only thing different than in the Amazon photos is the unit does not pull up, rotate 90 degrees, then fold over. It just pulls straight up and folds 90 degrees to the right. All in all, a real good product at a decent price.

Neat device, could have been designed better.
This is a neat gadget for adding outlets in a desk or cabinet. We used it in a built in cabinet as a place to charge laptops. As others have noted, the device doesn't seat in the hole very well, but some electrical tape helps. The issue that I have with it is that the cord is stiff enough that when it is inserted into the cabinet the cord causes the hinge to deflect a bit, so when I next go to pull it out, it catches on the bottom part of the device since it is not alighted with the hole anymore. I am thinking that a piece of PVC pipe might help alleviate this, but it seems like something that should have been thought through in the design. Also, a better way that tape (or the little metal claws that come with it, which I tried and found to be useless) to keep the device in the hole. I am thinking something that clamps underneath the hole, or by threading a pipe to mate with a flange on the underside, with the pipe fitting in the hole and accommodating the device when inserted. In all, though, it works to supply power and hides out of the way when not in use. Just getting it back out can be a pain.

A Loose Fit Resolved With Double-Sided Tape
I installed this today and as other reviewers have stated, it has a very loose fit. I was able to resolve this by using some double-sided tape and now the Power Tap fits in the 2 1/2" hole tight. I wish this was manufactured with tapered edges that get larger toward the top so that as you push the Power Tap into the hole, it gets tighter but I digress. The double-sided tape comes in various thicknesses and strengths, but I used 15lb Scotch by 3M and could only use half a wrap around or it would be too thick. I will probably buy some half as thick and get a better result. The Power Tap works as expected and allows me to plug in and charge several things on my work bench.

Pull-up Power Tap you can hide away when not needed.
I purchased this for my fiancé's craft room, which we just completed. This power tap was a great addition to the desktop for use with the laptop and her Cricut card making system. The USB taps are extremely handy for charging her phone and powering other USB powered devices. The nice part of this is that when you don't need it, it just pushes down flush with the desktop and is out of sight. I highly recommend this power tap for any desktop that needs easy access to power taps of either AC or the USB type. It was easy to install and of sturdy construction.

Pull up/fold over design is a winner.
Our new kitchen island now has two of these installed. I had the fabricator cut the holes tight so that the supplied metal clips would hold them in place. Worked perfectly. Can't beat these for the money. Other pull-up models remain upright. I was concerned that they would not hold up to repeated plug insertion and removals. This is not a concern with this fold over model. Fold over also has a lower profile when in use than an upright model would. Most importantly, the wife loves it.

It would be nice if the ring had a threaded type of mount ...
Worked well for my countertop application. I used silicone to hold it in place since the counter was too thick to use the supplied metal retainers. It would be nice if the ring had a threaded type of mount but that is usually not the case at this price level.

Cannot power both USB's at once
Put this in a custom head board I built to charge my phone at night. I love that it conceals itself when I do not need it. The only issue I have is when I try to plug two devices into the USB slots, it cannot handle it and the device constantly changes from "charging" to "not charging" nearly every second. The plugs do not seem to do this at all, just the USB slotsAs I was looking forward to charging my phone and tablet overnight, it seems like one will have to stick to a wall plug for now. Unfortunately, at the time of purchase, this seemed to be like the only (reasonably priced) item that I could find that would do its job by hiding away power with a usb plug. I had no other option.

Small yet effective.
We needed some extra plug ins in our conference table and this worked perfect. It lays flat until needed them we pull it out and it lays over for use and puts back away when done.
