Preparing for Marriage God's Way: A Step-by-Step Guide for Marriage Success Before and After the Wedding

This book is one of the best to enrich couple's lives. It asks tough questions to think about like who is taking out the trash. What things are you each going to be responsible for? What is true love to you? Very helpful.

This book is amazing. I’m a big fan of Mack and his books that he’s done. My wife and I did this book before we got married and it helped build us a strong foundation and go through some of the harder questions while pointing everything to God and the Bible. He does a great job of integrating and making God a priority in your marriage while still working on how we should both grow in our walk with him and with each other. 10/10 recommend doing this book.

For couples contemplating taking that big step of marriage, as well as couples already married who want to strengthen their bonds of love and commitment, this is a terrific tool to do just that. Through the work you'll do in the book, issues will be identified and expounded upon, giving you talking points so valuable in making your future plans. Wayne Mack is a dear friend, and oozes compassion from every pore, but he (and I) believe that all the hugs in the world won't move you past a time of struggle, but God's word CAN and DOES!! He uses this book in his counseling, as do the elders in my church, and other biblical counselors too many to name. But in order for this book to minister to couples at this critical juncture, they have to be willing to read this and work the assignments together. Unfortunately, the ones I bought this for most recently have not cracked the cover yet. So I haven't gotten any feedback from them. Maybe down the road . . .

My husband and I went through this book during a private counseling with our pastor a few months before we got married.This book helped us think through things and about things in ways that we had never thought of before. I began to understand myself better which is so important in marriage- understanding yourself so that you can relate to and understand your spouse.Most importantly it was practical and focused itself on being able to relate back to Scripture for its principles for each topic. It will be our one year anniversary in a few short days so we will be visiting with our pastor and with this book to see how things have been and where we need to continue working on ourselves.

My husband and I went through this book for our premarital counselling as led by the minister who married us. It covered a lot of bases and left us feeling well-prepared. One thing I didn't find helpful, however, were all the "Rate yourself and your future spouse on a scale of 1-5 in these areas" type exercises. People and their traits do not fit on a numerical scale. And self-evaluation is rather pointless as one is likely to go away from it with all the same blind spots with which they started. Rating your spouse in different areas can also be less than helpful. If there are areas that are problem spots, you likely already know them and can address them without assigning them some kind of numerical value.

My wife and I have recommended this book to many many people and even bought it for people. My wife was in charge of picking what premarriage counseling course to go through at our church and she chose this. She chose it because it was filled with the Word and that's what's most important in a relationship is a good understanding of who you are in christ and Gods plan for marriage and Gods design. Invest into your union and reap a lifetime of peace and happiness. Years after my wife chose to have the church use this book we felt God leading us to marry. She brought up this book and at first I didnt like the idea if it's not broke why fix it was my mentality. Well I'm sure glad we went through the book and we took it very seriously and now we got to start off on the same page with really clear understandings on many maby issues that really should be addressed before saying I do. Dont hesitate invest into your future. God bless

My wife and I went through this for our premarital counseling and it was SUPER helpful to go through. Sparked a lot of necessary conversations about how we grew up, finances, what we value, our friendships, expectations, etc. that we wouldn't have talked about otherwise. Every couple getting married, Christian or not, should go through this together!This book is written in a workbook format where you and your spouse fill out different sections separately, then talk about your responses together. It took us about 3 months to get through it setting aside time each week.

This book is fantastic. It is more of a workbook where you answer questions about your relationship and that prompts great conversations with your significant other. I would HIGHLY recommend to all couples thinking and planning for marriage!

I read this book with my pastor and now-husband, for our pre-marital counseling. We learned a lot about ourselves, God, and what it means to be husband and wife in a very practical sense God's way. We will def go back and look at our answers from then and use these same chapters and exercises to periodically re-assess our marriage and communication skills, etc.

Wayne Mack is an insightful and godly man. I have met him in person and he is the real deal. His teaching is based on real life couselling sessions and it really shows!
