Using this book to teach about Van Gogh, postimpressionism, "Starry Night" and "Wheatfield with Cypresses" to 5th & 6th grade art students. The only thing I did not like is that the book was starkly frank about Van Gogh's death. Since some of my students have been touched with the suicide of a dear friend in the not too distant past, I plan to reword things in a more gentle tone. Otherwise, the book is great.

There is some really good information about van Gogh in this book, but I feel that the joking aspects and snide remarks could have been left out. Unfortunately, Vincent had a rough life and a battle with mental illness. I feel this book almost makes light of it and that does not help teach children empathy and understanding.

I have bought these books for my classroom. I teach Pre-K. The three of the books are higher than Pre-Kindergarten level but I think if you want to introduce an artist and his art; you can modify your lesson while using these books.

When my great niece opened it for her sixth birthday she said," I love Van Gogh Hope it has Starry Night".

I remember reading this book when I was in elementary school and it brought back a lot of memories of the Scholastic book fair. What a great book and series to help introduce children to artists.

Book was purchased as a gift. No experience with it.

I LOVE THIS SERIES AND AM ATTEMPTING TO BUY ALL OF THEM. THEY HAVE A LOT OF GREAT BACKGROUND INFORMATION.

Excellent book, just right for children studying the lives of the painters.
