18 months and going strong
I bought 25 of these back in June 2012 to replace the 12V 20W halogen bulbs in my landscape lighting that I use as security lighting under the eaves. I have been replacing the bulbs as the halogens burn out - which is far too often in my opinion. So far, I have not had one of these defective - in fact, the other day I was cleaning the glass lens cover on one and the bulb's ceramic housing broke in half...but the light still works! They put out a little more light than the halogens, with a nicer, white glow, with a lot less power consumption. What that means, as they are run off a transformer, is that I can now put a lot more of these lights on the circuit using a 300W transformer, than I could with the halogens (15 bulbs - 20W x 15 = 300W).The one thing I think could be improved, is to reduce the overall length of the ceramic part at the back (or is it plastic, I can't recall), as to put it in the fittings I have it is a little too long (a millimeter or two). My fix was to remove the two screws holding the actual ceramic lamp holder in the fitting, and drill the raised metal mounts slightly, then re assemble and the bulb fits well. When I bought them they were around $4-5 each, shame they are not that price now, I would buy another 25. But I do still have about 10 sitting in the box from the original purchase. A great lighting solution in my opinion, particularly to replace the halogens.

Bright, great color, and the price is right for buying NOW.
I bought fifteen of these little 3W LED lights to replace the 20W MR16 halogen bulbs in my outdoor landscape lighting. They fit great in the housings, all worked out of the box, and are nicely packaged (individually packaged in protective plastic and an outer cardboard box).I'm glad I waited for the prices to come down from $20, like they were a year ago, and which is the price for these in the home fixit stores.I started saving $$$ from day one and they will pay for themselves in saved electricity in under two months. Some web calculation sites say I'll be saving a few thousand dollars in electricity and halogen bulb replacement costs over the next ten years.I had one of my three transformer circuits that "blinked" after installing these, but it was fixed by putting one traditional halogen bulbs in one fixture. So, I have a spare LED bulb now. The other two circuits work fine with all LED bulbs.Note that the LED color temperature matched my original halogen bulbs, so its a nice color to the light, and not a garish blue like you might be thinking when you think of LED lighting. This is the RIGHT COLOR for my landscape, and matches the halogen color.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I'll keep this Amazon review abreast of the longevity of the bulbs.Dr. Rings

Not a bad LED MR16 spot, but not a flood either
I have recently bought 3 different kinds of cool white LED, two from Amazon, one from home depot (Phillips). They all get 4 stars as they put out really nice light for a MR16 LED at a fairly reasonable price. Compact designs, that fit in my MR16 indoor track lighting fixtures. The phillips and this LED are pretty good spots (there is a slight difference in color.) Both actually compete quite well with a 50W halogen flood, meaning that while the spot has as much light in that spot area, there is no extra light outside it. i.e. halogen still puts out more light....ok, well duh.The Maxxima 5 Watt LED MR16 Cool White Flood Bulb - 260 Lumens does a really nice job of spreading the light out, but it is dimmer than a 50W halogen flood......ok, well duh. It's just too dim to really use as a straight replacement, BUT.....I have a number of halogen lights on the ceiling to fill out the living area....and it is a bit of overkill, but that's what it took. i.e. lets say 3 or 4 lights over a 15ft stretch (X3 for the 24ft distance), 8-10ft up - yes, add it up boys and girls, that's a lot of wattage. Where I can use the LED flood model is in the corners or in between halogens, meaning I can replace some of my halogens with little noticable drop in light, as the LEDs will now "fill in" the gaps I used to use a 50W halogen. The spots are nice, as they can fill in specific locations with pin point light, such as a reading area or work area, where I also used to double up the halogens. All in all, I can reduce from ten 50W halogens, down 6, with 3 LED floods, and a spot or two. So, 200Ws, for 20W, not too bad.

Simply amazing!
Um, wow! I'm ultra-impressed by these little guys. I recently installed low voltage landscape lighting--a 300W transformer running (currently) 5 spotlights. I have plans to add more... The fixtures came with halogen bulbs totaling 160W. One thing I noticed--the bulb closest to the transformer burned brightest; the bulb furthest was the dimmest. Another thing I noticed (which I expected), the halogens were HOT!So, I read the reviews of these LED lights and thought, "hey, for $3+ per bulb, why not try 5 and see how they are?" I am very glad I did. All 5 bulbs have an equal intensity now, from the bulb closest to the transformer to the last one in line. And, they generate no heat that I can detect. Amazing bulbs! The quality seems good, the bulbs feel solid and well made. The only thing to see now is how long they last. I will update this review and adjust stars as necessary. But, in my mind, for the cheap price, if they last at least 6 months (running 8-10 hours per night) they are completely worth it.
