A Year on Ladybug Farm (A Ladybug Farm Novel) Review: A Great Story To Enjoy - What to do when your life hits a crossroads? This is a wonderful fiction novel, the first in a series, which asks of three independent women, can we dare to live our dreams? Cici, Lindsay, and Bridget have all been friends for two decades or more. In fact they have been neighbors and have laughed, cried, and grieved together. One discussion over wine leads the ladies to the question of dare we live our dreams? Gradually, the idea becomes a reality, and the three women find themselves outside a broken-down mansion in the glorious Shenandoah Valley of Tennessee. Their families and friends are overwhelmed by the fact that their sensible friends are going to sell up and move on out. Thus is born the Ladybug Farm...Welcome Home. I found this book a compelling read for me. The characters were inviting, the dialog true and strong, the location and mansion welcoming and there were enough adventures that kept me turning the pages to see what on Earth was going to happen next. Finding myself laughing aloud several times and having to tell my husband various scenes, tells me that this is a novel I would easily recommend to friends that want a good story. I Thank, Jennifer for recommending it to me. Review: Best book ever.... - Three women, long time friends, for different reasons decide to buy a Victorian mansion together. They know the mansion has long been neglected but until they actually own it and begin the repairs do they discover just how much work they have cut out for them. This book actually made me laugh out loud at some of their reactions and situations. The writing is just so good, you feel like you are actually there with them going through it all. Some of the characters that come into their lives are so real and fun. I like Farley..anything he does for the gals is "Ten dollars". A man of few words. I can't wait to read all the books in this series...I just wish it was a real place where I could go and visit. I'd love to see this Ladybug Farm and meet all the characters in the book. Don't you just love that kind of book?

fun, lightweight chick lit
I'm almost embarassed to admit how much I enjoyed this book. I stayed up too late, snuck out on my lunch hour, stole every minute possible to get to the end. Loved the characters and the setting--the description of the house and the land surrounding it were wonderful. I was ready to pack my suitcase and head over to Virginia to see if Cici, Lindsay, and Bridget would let me move in. The reason I'm embarassed is because this really wasn't that great a book. The biggest issue for me is that the plot was just outrageous--3 mature, intelligent, accomplished women invest all of their money in an old fixer-upper without doing any kind of in-depth cost analysis or projections of the financial impact. Really? As much as I love me some chick lit, that seems to be a common theme in many books of the genre--smart women making really stupid choices. But, if you can overlook that major plot point then this is a really fun read!

And They Lived Happily...........
This was an enjoyable, somewhat unbelievable "chick flick". And guys - they could not ever have done it all without a man handy. These unique and lovable ladies naively took on a very risky and at the same time very brave task of pooling their resources to restore a run-down old mansion-type farmhouse far away from their homes, friends and relatives, as well as away from assorted modern conveniences. Oh yes; there was a "mystery" woman who also was key to the ladies' bailout. A man helper for mostly outside and a woman helper for mostly inside. The story's characters were delightful, strong and real. Any woman reading this book would find one to identify with. There are additional books in this series that should be just as intriguing and enjoyable.

This story takes a long time to get to the conflict, but it is beautifully written.

This is a wonderful, heartwarming series. I love them. You can't just read one, you'll have to read them all. Keep the stories from Ladybug Farm coming Donna Ball and Thank You!

This is a good story but all the difficulties were over exagerated and she contradicted herself in a few places to try a stress how bad things were. It was kind of disappointing because the story would have been really good.
