With this purchase was the first time that my buying method based on the reviews failed. I just can't understand how a product can get 4.5 stars with such a serious design defect. The alarm is small and easily installable and sounds really loud which is good. The problem is that there is a really small switch under the front cover and you have to take it off each time you want to turn it on and off.Let's say you bought this product in order to use it is as a door alarm, just to feel safer while you and your family are sleeping. Each night you have to take of the front cover, switch it on with a super small button and then put the cover back. But a bigger problem comes the next morning. The only way to know by other family members that the alarm is on or off is by taking the front cover off again because there is no alarm/power on light on the device. It is a really frustrating design problem and it makes the product useless ( unless you want to use the unit in chime mode ) because you just don't want to go through this every evening and morning. After redesigning the alarm with a switch on the outer part and a power light, it would be a great product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Big BANG for your buck! *by S***M on Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2016* These little alarms are amazing! Besides the wonderful price point...they really do the job! There are three settings: 1) chime - its like a ding. just to let you know the door/window has opened. 2) Alarm- this is an ear piercing continuous blaring noise that does not stop until the door/window is shut. 3) off- when you don't want either option 1 or 2. I will be purchasing more of these little gems. My husband is away a lot and this makes me feel safer in my home. At least I know if I heard the alarm I could get my kids and myself to safety and call the police. It would definitely frighten away an intruder. There is no way to adjust the volume control. Personally I am ok with this because I need to hear it no matter where I am in the house.
