The basic rule is the same as the usual Hang Man game. You think of one word. Tell your opponent how many letters the word has. Let's say you chose the word "brother," and the number of letters is "7." You put letter tiles (brother) on the bottom slots. When your opponent guessed the right letter, you take the letter from the bottom slot and stand it on the top slot in the correct order. (Your opponent says, "B," then you stand the tile "B" in the first slot. If your opponent guesses incorrectly, you slide the marker (with the picture of the hang man, and you move the marker each time your opponent makes a mistake). When you guess a letter, you put a little white pin in the panel as a reminder, so you won't repeat choosing the same letter. You continue guessing letters until you guess the exact word that your opponent chose. It is a very good game for children who are learning words. It is compact and all the tiles and pins go into the small compartments. Kids love playing this game. The only drawback is the number of letters that you can use is a total of 8. When playing regular hangman one person guesses while the other goes about hanging him for the guessing the wrong letters. In this game both players get to play simultaneously and the first one who guesses the other persons word wins. Each person has a storage box either blue or red as you can see in the picture. You flip open the storage box where you have your tiles of letters and write your word facing you on the bottom and backwards on the top still facing you so that when the opponent guesses a letter you can flip it over. You also have white pegs and the alphabet on the bottom part of your box so that you can peg the letters you have missed. There are pictures of a man being hung going across the board and when the opponent misses a guess you slide the peg over and the tiles show pictures where you are in the hanging process. It is such a Cute game that once you play it you will never want to play regular hangman again. The only downside I found to this game is that the alphabet where you peg the letters guessed is written in very small letters and difficult to see, but otherwise this game is a Winner !!! It is cheaply made and does take a long time initially to separate every single piece but that is our only gripe. We even put an educational spin on it and play versions like adjective hangman to practice coming up with adjectives. We play it every day. Worth getting just be prepared for the very cheap pieces.
