I am totally addicted to sugar! I even had a Roux-N-Y stomach bypass about 15 years ago. I always had a slight weight problem in my early teens but nothing that I couldn't control. Then after I had my third baby I just could not get the weight off. I am only 5 feet tall, so that made my life miserable. I was used to being active. I was a professional horse trainer and instructor. And at my present weight of 288lbs, I could no longer ride. I felt like I was trapped inside someone else's body. No diet worked. I also had a Thyroid Disease that I was unaware of. So after the surgery, off came the fat. Then a full Abdominal-Plasty. I did fine, no problems. When I wanted sweets though I usually bought cookies with Sorbitol or some other type of alcohol sugar. Then I found out that I could tolerate some sweets, like candy and cookies. I didn't put the weight back on though. Then about 5 years later, my mom was murdered by my stepfather. That still doesn't seem real. We were very close. He arranged it to look like suicide but every one new the truth. Even the police believe he did it. But they say, " it's not what you know, it's only what you can prove ". So needless to say, I had a hard time dealing with it. I got where I wasn't eating good or taking my vitamins and eventually my body started to shutdown. I ended up with several dangerous vitamin deficiencies and a severe case of Ferritin Anemia. It took close to 5 years to figure out what was wrong with me. I finally went to an Oncology Hematologist. He knew exactly what I had. I almost had to have a bone marrow transplant. But before I got to him, I went to a Biofeedback Specialist. He was able to clean all of my organs of past anti-depression medicines, bi-polar medicines, a lot of toxins from all the sugar I ate, clean my blood system, balance my hormones and taught me how to eat right and informed me that sugar is the # 1 cause of all non genetically caused diseases. He gave me a sample of Stevia and one of Birch Xylitol. Not even a contest! Stevia does have a lot of healthy enzymes if you can stand the aftertaste, but birch xylitol is the best sweetener I have ever put in my mouth and that includes regular sugar! That's right, better than sugar. No aftertaste. Full of massive enzymes that clean your teeth, gums and mouth. It also has a feeling of fresh air taste to it. It comes from other vegetables and fruits but lacks the enzymes. This is even able to kill Streptococcus and Staphylococcus in your mouth. Less than half the calories in sugar and safe for diabetics. Keeps on killing germs right on down to your stomach and beyond. Last time I purchased a different brand than " Morning Pep ", and it was great. But this time they were out of stock. This brand was available for a better price anyway as I decided to order 5 lbs., instead of 21/2 lbs. reviews were good so I bought it. I would say that it's a little bit better than any of the other brands that I have purchased as it's a little more coarsely ground than others. A little bit more like sanding sugar. I like that. I think you get more of that fresh taste with it. I will probably stick to this brand now. No more searching for what I like. I am still too weak to bake again yet, but when I do I will enjoy using this brand. For now I get candy and wonderful caramels from another company that is just wonderful. I won't mention it by name though in this review so as not to take attention away from from this product. None of my kids who are all ready grown choose regular sugar over this product for their coffee or tea when they come over. And my grandson doesn't even know the difference in the candy. And he is mr. Picky! But he loves candy just like I do. It is an awesome unbelievable gift of nature that I wish I didn't have to almost croak before I learned about it. Sold Forever On It! Only one thing to remember......... Very Toxic to Dogs and Cats and probably horses too. It will kill them quickly according to the Vets. Be very careful to keep it up and out of their access! Awesome product which IMO tastes even better than sugar while bringing many added dental & health benefits/advantages including in restoring the correct ph to one's mouth. This enables healthier gums & stronger & cleaner teeth + bacteria can't thrive & teeth can even be remineralized as it's the acidity in the foods we eat [+ likely too much stress also as that makes us acidic] that soften our enamel which gets brushed away if we brush our teeth right after eating before the ph has been restored. I EVEN FOUND THIS XYLITOL SUGAR WORKS GREAT TO VERY EASILY & RAPIDLY CREATE SUPER HEALTHY POWDERED SUGAR FOR CAKE FROSTING SIMPLY BY GRINDING SOME IN A COFFEE GRINDER & thus avoiding the need to use unhealthy sugar & the cornstarch (likely GMO) in most powdered sugars. I have read that arrowroot powder can be used as an alternative to cornstarch powder if some powder is needed or desired to help with the consistency & in preventing caking over time. NOTE: despite using Pronamel for years now & other sensitive teeth products before that, I have sensitive teeth & receding gums in some areas since a bad car accident when I was 18. WHAT GOT ME INTERESTED IN XYLITOL in the first place was reading that CHEWING XYLITOL GUM CAN HELP WITH RECEDING GUMS & FOR STRONGER & HEALTHIER TEETH & POSSIBLY EVEN IN STRENGTHENING BONES. WHAT I FOUND IS THAT IF I CHEW 1 PIECE OF XYLITOL GUM TWICE A DAY, MY TEETH SENSITIVITY PROBLEMS STOP BUT RETURN ON ANY DAY I DIDN'T GET AROUND TO CHEWING THE GUM TWICE even now that I'm using xylitol sugar including to sweeten grapefruit in a very conveniently healthy & blood-sugar friendly way.. SO CHEWING WITH XYLITOL GUM SEEMS TO ALSO BRING SOME ADDED BENEFITS & I LIKE TO USE THAT AS A QUICK WAY TO CLEAN MY TEETH & MOUTH & RESTORE BETTTER PH & A HEALTHIER ORAL ENVIRONMENT after eating & before brushing. So far my favourite xylitol gum given healthiest ingredients + great taste & nice flavour lasting the ideal 3-5 minutes dentists recommend as chewing time are: PUR which comes in many flavours & the "Xylitol fruit gum" by Biogenesis which actually brings a very pleasant minty taste despite no mention of that in the name. So I use the PUR spearmint as a wonderful way to freshen my mouth in the morning & the other gum after lunch or an afternoon snack & that seems a great combination in ending sensitivity problems likely by creating a better oral environment. AN ADDED BENEFIT TO CHEWING XYLITOL GUM WHICH IS INCREASINGLY BEING RECOMMENDED BY DENTISTS IS THAT over time, the amount of saliva & the power of that saliva to keep our mouth clean start to decrease so chewing with xylitol gum for a few minutes up to 3x a day has been found to be the ideal way to help increase the flow & cleaning power of our saliva which likely explains the healthier gums & teeth people experience as a result.

I like that this product is from the USA and that it from birch trees. It is packaged very well. I like the taste of the Xylitol and it dissolves very good in my coffee.

This is a great product, one your dentist either doesn't know about or doesn't care about, but xylitol is great for taste and it prevents cavities. If is even available in toothpase and mints to help stop cavities. Another plus: Xylitol is shown to NOT increase your glycemic index, which means it should be prescribed (oops, no, Dr's won't prescribe because it is not patentable, but look up the research.) Doctors and dentists should be routinely recommending this to replace sugar in your diet. But alas, no $ no recommendation to do so. Sad state of medical affairs (mostly with Big Pharma). Try it and buy it, you'll be a repeat customer with good reasons to do so!

Quick delivery, made in America product. I didn’t find this to be as sweet as sugar, but not a bad taste. Research the benefits of birch. It will amaze you. I feel good putting lower glycemic index foods in my old system.

I purchased this to add to my Neilmed Sinus Rinse bottle. You can put like a 1/8-1/4 tsp in the regular solution to help treat sinus infections. Xylitol is a natural biofilm breaker. It helps prevent pathogens like bacteria from being able to adhere to the sinus tissues. I also found using this moisturizing, which helps my sinuses feel less raw, inflamed, and swollen. It's not an instant fix all, it takes time - but it makes breathing so much more comfortable. I have chronic severe sinus inflammation following a mold exposure years ago, and this is one of the main things that has improved comfort while trying to improve sinus/ear inflammation. I recommend using this in sinus rinse bottles, in combination with Xlear nasal spray (squeeze or pump bottles) between uses as it also contains xylitol, and using Hylands Earache Drops for ear pressure. You can add Colloidal Silver 10 ppm into the Neilmed Sinus Rinse bottle with xylitol (I use about 1/4 - 1/2 tsp of the colloidal silver), and 2 - 5 drops of Nutribiotic Grapefruit Seed extract, and mix well. Make sure the xylitol crystals are dissolved! They do dissolve pretty quickly and easily, but just make sure you can't see anymore crystals in the mixture before using on your nose. This mixture is a good antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and it's all natural. People recommend doing the rinses 1-2 times per day. Xylitol is also a sweetener for foods, such as baked goods. I have found the taste pleasant and lightly sweet in food and for the sinus rinses. It can be used in toothpaste or mouthwash too, to naturally help prevent cavities, as it helps prevent bacteria from adhering to teeth. Important note: Keep xylitol away from pets like cats and dogs. Their bodies are not able to process it like people, and consuming xylitol will seriously harm them and result in death. If your pet gets into xylitol they need to be rushed to the vet immediately. Just be sure to keep the product and any food items it's used in out of reach of animals. That being said, xylitol is totally safe for humans! I definitely recommend this product for people. It's natural and affordable, and makes a big difference in sinus issues for me.

I like this Morning Pep the best of the Xylitols I have tried. I have used Now Foods Xylitol, but it was made in China and I just wasn't trusting it anymore-also, I had to drive a long distance to buy it, which added to the price of it. I then switched to Xylitol USA - Xyla All Natural Sugar Free Sweetener - 1 Lb. ( 2 Pack ), which I liked better than the Now Foods corn xylitol, even though the granules were a bit more coarse than the Now Foods. I asked WellPack if they could send 4 or 5 lbs. in a shipment and they said they could not. Then the price went up about $5 for 2 lbs., so I started searching for alternatives and found Morning Pep. I like this best because it tastes good and has a bit smaller granules than Xyla, so it dissolves better in my morning coffee. I use it because it was on my dentist's website as an alternative to sugar and it helps me fight tooth decay and gum disease, but most importantly for myself, I am allergic to all but 1 medication for fighting mouth infections. I use this to cut the plaque on my teeth and keep infections at a minimum. It also does not give me sugar mood swings, meltdowns, or tantrums (see Kathleen DesMaisons book-Little Sugar Addicts). It can cause loose stools, but I find the reaction to too much xylitol is less with Morning Pep brand than Now Foods or Xyla Xylitol brands. Some nights, I put about 1/2 teaspoon of Morning Pep into my mouth against my teeth and let it dissolve. It cuts the amount of plaque I usually have in the morning and my internal plumbing system works effortlessly--ie. not too loose. I find Morning Pep to be the best brand of Xylitol I have used and would recommend it to others. Just keep the bag any food that contains this away from animals-it can have very bad effects on them and can act as a poison to them. I also think this is the best deal on it. I paid $35.90 for the 5 lb. bag. I am the only one that uses it and I go through about a pound every 1 - 2 weeks. It comes in a resealable plastic bag, but I empty the bag into glass containers to preserve freshness.I have only used it to sweeten coffee/tea. I bought mine from Nutritional Vitamins and it was delivered promptly.
