I chose this rating of 5 STAR for this book "Moving Up to Executive Director: Lessons Learned from My First 365 Days" by Joanne Oppelt because this book is amazingly informative and helpful to those who also have the same challenges. The author, Joanne Oppelt, is able to share in a very understanding and informative way how she moved up to her position of Executive Director in her place of business. I have not found many useful books written by experienced leaders of non profits or ...
I teach a course in leading non profits and associations at Carleton University in Ottawa. Besides the books I have written on leading associations based on 19 years experience as a President of a business association, I have not found many useful books written by experienced leaders of non profits or associations. This book is now a textbook for my course because it provide real insights into the challenges an executive director faces in the first year of the job of leading a non profit and how Joanne met those challenges. If Joanne reads this I would love to compare notes on teaching and writing in this field.
