Like the material itself grew mold. My son wore this one, in a chlorinated pool. Like I usually do, I rinsed his swim clothes with clean water and hung out to dry. By morning there were black spots all over the front of the shirt. I hand washed, and they didn't go away. I machine washed, and they didn't go away. I hung in direct sunlight, hoping that would help. It did not. Not there is also a cluster of mold spots on the back.
