Freshwater Aquariums For Dummies, 3rd Edition

I'm a complete novice when it comes to an aquarium and this book helped me learn what I needed to know. It's been 3 weeks now and my fish are still alive!! Great useful book 🙂

Good present

Have only read a bit of it yet. It is packed full of information which has made me step back from my original ideas which where probably on to large a scale. Maybe there could be a few more colour pictures. I will review again once I've had a better chance to read it.

Quite a thick book, covering everything you can think of about starting or improving a freshwater aquarium set up. Covers tank size and position, how to choose a dealer, where else to get fish and plants from, and also has a few coloured photographs.

I like 'Dummies' books. This publication is typical of the genre. Snatches of useful information and a useful reference book for a hobbyist. Whereas some of the publications are excellent for beginners, this book is too brief, in my view, from the viewpoint of starting in the fish-keeping hobby, with too few photographs and illustrations.

These dummies books are amazing as a resource for beginners on a range of subjects. This book on aquariums is no exception- it gives comprehensive and wide-ranging advice for keeping fish. A must for fish keepers

This book gives a good solid account of how to set up and care for a fresh water aquarium and its inhabitants. I've had my own personal set up for about a year and although I haven't read this cover to cover I've certainly found it to be very useful in terms of a reference guide, hints and tips. I thought the section on planting and the whole nitrite, nitrate water quality section very good in particular.

Another good Dummies book that will give those with little or no experience as a tropical fish hobbyist good fundamental knowledge.

I am about to start my fish tank. Definitely recommend reading this book before buying anything for your aquarium.This book is super easy to read and full of good tips and detail explanations. It also contains some humour which makes it enjoyable

Good to read before you buy and go into your first serious store, read thereafter. I just bought a 20-gallon aquarium, and this book is excellent, useful, well written. Thank you, Madelaine :)

If you are new to aquariums, this is a great place to start. I would certainly buy this book again if I wanted to learn about aquariums from the beginning. It certainly would supply a foundation of understanding about aquariums.
