How to curl your hair for dummy’s
I cannot for my life figure out how to curl my hair with a clamp without a crease . This curling iron is perfect for me . So easy , perfect curls every time . My hair doesn’t hold a curl very easy and the barrel size is big enough it falls nicely but still looks curled .

An uncomplicated and inexpensive curling wand ideal for longer hair lengths
Firstly, I should probably clarify that I naturally have type 2A/2B ("wurly") hair that holds curls really well without styling products or hairspray -- so I can't really comment on whether or not this works with straight hair, since I use this hair tool primarily to make my wavy/curly hair more uniform and polished. With that said, this is my favorite curling wand, and I absolutely love it. I own another 1" curling iron that's similar in design, however I loathed the clamp, which makes it difficult to work with. Fortunately, the elimination of the clamp in favor of the wand has made a huge difference in terms of handling. The good news is that it heats very quickly. The heat setting is adjusted via a dial -- which is extremely convenient -- but unfortunately doesn't include a digitized window or marker to let you know the exact temperature. This isn't really that big a deal because in the end there's only three temperatures: hot, really-fricking-hot, and everything in between. For me, the low to low-mid temperature does the job well. The handle isn't cumbersome, but it is large -- larger than the actual barrel, which is fairly large on it's own. I'm pretty certain that unless you have long hair, that this wand will not work out well for you (and that's only the 1" -- I can't imagine how difficult it would be to use the 1 1/2" on shorter lengths). So, if you have short or medium hair, then you might want to pass on this wand (though I do highly recommend Remington's "pearl" curling wand -- it's sleeker and more tapered and works excellently with shorter hair). In conclusion I really like the design -- which is better suited for longer lengths -- and that this wand heats quickly and includes multiple heat settings. I'm very pleased with the curls and waves the 1" barrel creates (side note: do not underestimate how big the barrel is!), which are beautiful and polished and lasting. It's an uncomplicated curling wand that's easy to handle (thank God for swivel cords) and I'm really pleased with the low price.

Loose, big curls/waves. Temperature dial is terrible.
I had been searching for a curling wand that was bigger than the typical ones I find at stores like Ulta. I have a skinny one and one that looks like a sex toy (you know, with the bumps) but I wanted something that could provide big, loose curls and waves for those days when I want to look perfectly effortless. A tight curl just doesn't scream "I didn't try today". I love that this wand is 1.5" and it curls my below shoulder length, fine hair very well.I know there have been complaints about it not getting hot enough but I prefer to use most tools on a lower heat setting anyway. With fine hair, the curls last longer if I use a lower heat setting. I rarely go above Medium heat. So the lack of hot temps doesn't bother me at all. What DOES BOTHER ME, is the fact that the temperature dial doesn't have any markings on it. The only two settings I can be certain of are the highest and the lowest. There aren't temperatures written on the dial. There isn't a dot where medium heat would be. The dial doesn't even click to let you count how much hotter/cooler you are making the wand. It is just a smooth dial that leaves me guessing where the mid-temp is. I find this to be a very frustrating design flaw.Despite the lack of temperature control/precision, I am going to keep this wand. It makes nice curls that are big and full. It gives my curls a nice, smooth, finished appearance. Overall, I am happy enough with this wand to keep it but if they ever make improvements then they need to focus on the temperature dial first!

Here's My Guide to Figure Out Temperature Dial!!! :D
I absolutely love this curling wand. I almost returned it due to the temperature dial, but after a quick easy DIY, this babe is a keeper!!!!First off, the temperature dial IS indeed extremely annoying and confusing at first...HOWEVER, I spent about 5 mins and figured out a good way to use the dial to the best temperature for me. The dial will eventually stop turning at some point. The key to figuring out when the tool gets hotter is... the BLINKING HEAT LIGHT. This is really easy. You do this ONCE, and you're all good afterward.1. For lowest setting, I turned the dial all the way down til it stops (you push the dial top to bottom). Then when once it stopped turning, i marked the very end of the dial with silver sharpie (or use nail polish). This is the lowest temperature setting, and this way i won't forget.2. For highest heat setting, turn it reverse (you rotate the dial bottom to up motion) all the way. As I'm doing this, I could see the Heat light blinking, which confirms the iron is heating up and increasing the temperature setting! Eventually the light will stop blinking and the surface gets significantly hotter. It's at 400 degree. Then mark the dial with different colored sharpie or nail polish. The point of marking is that you remember which side is at 400degree hot or at lowest heat. So it's up to you if you mark it or not. Now, if you were to rotate the dial back to lower setting, the light won't blink, since the light blinking is only indication for 'increasing' temperature.3. Lastly, you can kinda tell how many times it takes for you to rotate the dial to each end. For me it takes about 4-5 turns (top to bottom) to reach each end. So I know that if i turn it from either end about 2 times, it's about in-between temperature. You can mark these mid points too if you want. Whatever helps you remember. The box says it's up to 400 degree high and 30 settings, but I wish they'd just say what's the lowest temperature instead of this useless '30 settings'. You can test out your hair on it (test from low to higher) and find which area is your ideal setting. then mark that with different color.Generally, this curling wand gives me a very luscious, beautiful natural looking curl compared to regular clip curling iron that used to give me very fake-like curls. Also it only takes 1/3 of the time it used to take me with clip irons. My hair is thick, coarse, non-frizzy, and almost straight Asian hair. Waist-line long. Bleached Ombre.
