Does not really fit my mouth very well. I previously had a Shock Doctor mouth guard. The new is cheaper and ill fitting.

I've worn this type of device as a night guard for 25 years when I lost two expensive dental night guards (each when moving). At first, this type was really hard to mold properly, but I got the hang of it after needing to buy more to do it right, especially the right time in the hot water and right amount of pressure when pressing around my teeth. (I used to press too hard, thus making the guard way too thin.) I have a normal-sized female mouth, so I was glad this one worked perfectly because it APPEARS too small. I ordered 2 more to have on hand, even though my previous one lasted 7 years (no kidding!), and I ruined it by accidentally turning on the heat-drying on my dishwasher where I clean my night guard every week.

i just received this, three of them actually, and remembered what i had learned the medium-hard way: shock doctor is shockingly ineffective. using their method and fitting the guards isn't easy. i know i am doing it correctly, the simple point here is that the whole piece itself is less than potato chip thin. once softened by hot water, the upper side begins to melt into the rest of the guard, and by the time you have pulled it into position to fit, you have to start over. and over. and over. overall, it stays in one piece and can be reheated and refitted. sort of. the material, though malleable, is so thin and week that they simply will not hold up to the shape you desire, and it is instantly clear that they are not going to provide much if any real protection. i have used mouth guards for decades, from soccer to judo, and can tell you that these just don't measure up in size, weight, durability or any way really to even the cheapest, dual or triple density, guards you would find at a discount super store for $3 or less. and at $10 each, these are sure to disappoint. at maybe $2000 per lost or cracked tooth, and i am being quite generous in that guestimation, that is not the hard way you want to find out. seriously, and i am completely serious, a stick of gum, fresh enough to bend without breaking, will provide the same if not better protection for what, 10 cents. and i am not exaggerating. i urge you to not find this out for yourself. these are the 5th through 8th i have purchased, but never again. i am keeping the packaging to remind me next time i order mouth guards. do not risk it, either on yourself nor on your kids. life is too short, and better ones at less cost are out there.

I went to a few stores looking for a cheap traditional style mouth piece. All I found were flashy expensive ones. Shock Doctor makes several styles and this is what I wanted. Simple and effective. I followed the directions on the package. Molded quick and easy. Fit is perfect and snug.
