Rubbermaid Commercial Products Food/Meat Instant Read Thermometer, Pocket Size, Dishwasher Safe, Red, For Meat/Food Cooking and Grilling/Oven

I had bought this thermometer, my last order indicated in April of 2012. I am now buying this again because it finally "broke" when it started reading the wrong temperature. Probably my fault the poor thing has been dropped so many times, I really honestly don't know how it lasted this long. So basically it's a nokia brick. It's been dropped, dishwashed so many times, stepped on, lost, found, buried. And it kept going. I hadn't the heart to throw it away but when it read my hot water as being only 120F when I knew it was at least 200F I knew it was time to say goodbye. Pros: Could probably survive a nuclear explosion Accurate and super quick temp Saw me through many a meals All around good thermometer, no frills, no batteries--just a regular ol' thermometer--that may outlive you Cons: The one that I had originally had an easy cheat sheet on its cap, this one doesn't. That's just a gripe, hopefully this one will live up to it's predecessor. Overall: Will buy again when needed.

I like this thermometer so much better than the digital thermometers on the market these days. I find it much easier to use. We've had this thermometer at home for years, and we use it all the time. Because I rely on it so much, I had to order a second thermometer to use at our lake cabin. ACCURACY The thermometer is very accurate. I've tested it against two digital thermometers we have (and no longer use), and it reads the same as the digital thermometers. FUNCTION The digital thermometers we have always seem to need a new battery - and of course, I don't always have the right kind of battery on hand. It's frustrating when this happens and you need to know the temperature of something you're cooking. I finally gave up on the digital thermometers and will just stick to this one - no batteries required. I also like the size of this thermometer, compared to the digital ones we have (had). It's easier to store in a drawer. I am very happy with the quality, accuracy, and durability of this thermometer. I definitely recommend it!

I use it to measure my temperature when boiling the milk (+160F) for making yogurt to make sure it is hot enough to kill the bacteria. Then, I measure it again around 100F when it cools to make sure it does not kill my probiotics in the starter. It is compact with a cover to keep it clean. It does a good job for my yogurt making so far! All my yogurt batches were a success.

Accurate and easy to use

Hard to find these old school thermometers. Everything now is digital and I did not want a digital thermometer. Very please, seems to read the temperature accurately when I bake chicken

This thermometer is consistently off by 40 degrees or more. I baked some chicken legs for almost an hour at 400 F and checked their temperature. This thermometer read 165 F. When I checked the temp with a digital thermometer I use for my work, it read 205 F. The thermometer does not do the one job its supposed to do, so even one start is generous.

What a relief, small enough to store away in any drawer, and the flat sided dial keeps it where you put it down.

It can be adjusted which I did. All metal so no glass to break. The top is quite small and could be difficult to read.

Bought this to take temperature of the ground, for mushroom hunting, and garden planting works great.

Simple and good

Perfect size for and easy to read I can not say anything about accuracy because I have nothing to compare it to but I’m sure it works well
