Highly recommend. Easy to use and perfect design to size the weight based on need. I have a cutting tool, but was able to break by hand (with effort) the size I needed. Although it’s possible, I don’t recommend breaking by hand if you need the weight to remain flat. It did cause some curving but was not an issue for my son’s pinewood derby design.

Best weights for Pinewood derby car!

This was easy to use and install. We put this on the bottom of my son's pinewood derby car. It was easy to break off a piece to get it to the right size. My son also won the pinewood derby race! Is it because of this? Maybe! :)

Used this for my son's BSA derby car. Very adaptable since you can break away the weight you don't want. Applications are seemingly endless with it on a derby car. BTW, he won 2nd over all.

It's a super easy way to add however much weight you need. Do be aware that you'll need to countersink it into the car. It may not fit over the rails otherwise.

I Iove using these weights for the Pinewood Derby. It gives the car a more aerodynamic feel. I did have little bit of trouble snapping off some of the excess weights, but that might have been just me using improper tools. I used needle nosed pliers, but they were small and not as strong as I apparently needed. And then to affix it to the bottom, you need a small screwdriver, which I also didn't have. It only took a few seconds to attach them, so its not really too much of a hassle. As long as you have both the right pliers and screwdriver, it's not too difficult. It would be better if it was just a peel and stick like this other type I also use. It clears the track nicely though, and my son came in 4th in his den this year using this.

This was a great product for the Pinewood Derby car. Directions call for making a hole in the bottom of the car to fit the weight but I just screwed it right in with no track clearance issues at all. Since it has screws you can use it over and over again. This is a terrific way to add 2 ounces to your Derby car quickly and easily. I would recommend this product.

Our local scout-shop was out of these weight kits, so we ordered this one, hoping it was the same... it was. The bar is easily "broken" into two or more pieces, and you can "chip off" pieces to customize the weight... just like the BSA licensed version. The weight comes in at 2.2oz (if I remember correctly), so if you need more than that (like we always do), you have to get two kits or use other weights as well. BTW, these were a little bit cheaper than the official BSA kits.
