Telomere Timebombs: Defusing the Terror of Aging
G**N
The book mostly tells that only by buying the expensive TA-65 can we lengthen our life.
An easy to read book but which mostly is containing knowledge for persons who only just have heard the word Telomere and then wanting to find out what Telomere stands for. But as I during the last years yearly have reads at least 10,000 sides in doctor and health books, or by Google, to me there nearly wasn’t anything new.My increased reading about this and other biological topics increased enormous during now 13 years here in Chiang Mai, having discovering how little the doctors actually know about health, vitamins, cancer, cholesterol, and so on, and besides hit by doctor failures. So have therefore during these years bought books as for example this one by Ray D. Strand, MD.: “What your Doctor doesn’t know about Nutritional Medicine”.Concerning the actual book for which we here write recommendations, besides missing much science I also miss a better DNA/Telomere drawing than the one on side 56, that is by instead getting a normal part of DNA drawing, as I recall it since 1962 in high school. And then from the “end/bottom” of such a double DNA helix marked up the total length for the Telomeres, and on this some cuttings lines, and for example the max number of possible cuttings; where we sometimes talk about around 45 times shortening. And maybe besides also having a part of a complete DNA, that is one with the molecule “arms” out from the sides of the double helix. By such drawing(s) in the book, it for example would be easier to show and explain the Telomeres to other person. As I wrote in the beginning: concerning the speculation about how to live longer we in the book only learn about doing so by the use of the Telomeres TA-65. But if we only are looking after the possibility in reaching the normally thought maximum age of 120 years, then we have many cases of persons coming close to full term this age - and one being 122 – by just living healthy. And for example, I recall from one of my books, possibly read 5 years ago (in wain tried to recall which one between my 400+ doctor books), in which the doctor mentions a woman who first died at the age 116, but until at the age of 114, when then having an accident, had been riding her horse. And as he tells in his book about vitamins and mineral, during the last 40 years of her life she daily had been taking the many vitamins and minerals which he had advised. So as shown by a case that by just living naturally, we can reach the age of 120, that is by healthy food containing much fruit/vegetable, motion, using the brain, and by natural pills getting the needed vitamins and minerals. Vitamin and mineral pills beside the food as we now are living in a Western World, quite different since around 1900, as now, among other, with the daily bombing of toxins from anywhere; foot, clothes, quicksilver in the teeth, and so on. So even if we take the TA-65 if we don’t take the needed vitamins and minerals we reach the age of 120 years. And the question will be if it was the TA-65 the natural pills we resulted in reaching this age.Concerning the missing science, I in the book am missing more speculations, and mentioned researches, concerning prolonging the life, either by reaching the 120 year, or higher than 120. For example, we know that some persons are born with just one single different genes which increase their chance in getting older. Opposite to which we are having the children born with the Progeria [Gk, pro + geras, old age], shorter tail on the DNA and thereby less cuttings, and growing old extremely fast, normally dying 7 – 9 old and then die when looking like 90 years old.But opposite to the TA-65, which rebuild the Telomeres and making the DNA tail longer, we by other methods instead each time that a part of the Telomeres is cut of then actual a shorter part is cut off a thereby a bigger number of cutting in this was. It looks like that for example Omega-3 helps in this. And the most known cases concerning the increased length of life for the mice (almost species tested) which only got decreased amount of calorie and then lived around double as long. Or the 2,5-time lifespan for the mutant roundworm. Or researches which have found cases of the decreased working speed for the Apotheosis, which manage the speed for cutting of the Telomeres. And strangely that too less Insulin is the same as saying Diabetes, but less Insulin looks like decreasing the speed of Apotheosis, (where cancer cells live infinity). So maybe we one day can use Insulin, in living longer, without at the same time suffering by Diabetes. So besides the TA-65 there are many other solutions, also besides those in my remark, as for example the drug Rapamycin. But in any case first of all we have to get the needed vitamins, minerals, gymnastic, and training the brain, for also living a healthy live when we get older. And without doubt during the next decades we will have more discoveries concerning the speculation in getting older than the 120 years.

burning the candle at both ends
when I was introduced to dr. park, I began to review his videos on the subject. after reading this book and using TA-65 product for three months, I have seen the results of his research inside and out. dr. park answers all your questions before you need to ask. he writes with such an ease and he explains medical terms for even me to understand... one example I will use because it can be seen is the factthat my skin was so dry (i'm 64). I just thought the sun damaged me and I have to live with it. no I was wrong. if I go days without using cream, I look like I put an expensive cream on. people make remarks to me about how great I look. i'm amazed. my lung capacity has increased, I noticed my lung capacity when I was in st. Thomas with friends a lot younger than me. I left them in the dust. in all seriousness, as a baby boomer who just had brain surgery a year ago I feel great. I do only take one tablet but I would like to take two a day and sometimes I do. dr. park takes four. when I looked at a picture of a candle with both ends lit, it reminded me of a telomere. the medical field has known about this for a long time.I think that as old sayings go "you are burning the candle at both ends" has a lot of meaning. life catches up to you and your telomere's get shorter.lots of things contribute to this. without going into my personal feelings on the medical field I will leave you with this one thought "anyone canlengthen their telomeres by doing one of two things or both really: proper supplements and eating right or taking TA-65 for that extra push"

Learn about the forefront of longevity theory
I am emphatically enjoying my read of Telomere Timebombs and suggest all health nuts, skeptics, philosophers, or anyone with an inkling of mental agility give it a go. I am reading this after already devouring most of his online educational material and testing TA-65 on myself and family. There have been noticeable results which I keep from my review for privacy concerns, but you need not believe me to just be curious enough to dig in. I did not start a fan of Dr. Parks worldview, but his logic and clarity have won me over. I was admittedly already “biologically aware,” with some sense of emergent systems and the tyranny of previously held beliefs in us all, when I originally challenged Dr. Parks seemly unbelievable suggestion that disease and aging remediation could be so "simple." Probably this book will provide a great deal of cognitive dissonance and getting to the other side of that will be everyone’s own personal journey...in which many will not succeed, that being said the material in this book is presented in the most palatable manner. He is a rare scientist/doctor able to write about technical material in the most engaging manner. I’ll be curious to see what backlash arises as people’s conceptions of life’s possibilities are radically challenged. I for one am still trying to work out the implications given that I now find Dr. Park’s account of aging and aging remediation the most convincing one out there. For those who find this dubious as I initially did, please engage in the discussion and elucidate where he and now I are missing something, but at the same time perhaps be mindful of all of our own biases towards protecting our unquestioned hidden belief systems and if possible state objections clearly with theory, mechanisms or data that can be constructively engaged with. Most of all enjoy the philosophical challenges this book poses.

Self Praise Confessional
While this book may appeal to many, regrettably I was irritated by the author's attitude of self-complacency and adding irrelevancies to pad-out his beliefs and views. The book is more of a self-confessional of self-praise and an advertisement to sell the product TA-65. I struggled to read it and ended by thumbing through the pages but did not learn anything more than what is already known about telomeres. Whatever praises he gives to the product it does not appear to have halted the progression of his own aging as can be witnessed from the many views that are available of him. While the average age of the population has increased rapidly in recent years, the maximum age of longevity has remained the same. Living too long has a greater psychological impact than that of physical health and it is doubtful if anyone would be happy living beyond their generation but little consideration has been given to this aspect to life.

Nice Book except for the TA65 Peddling
This book is very enjoyable to read. The style is as indicated by the author. ie. he puts technical information in "layman's" terms. The only issue I have is that he devoted an entire chapter on TA-65. It is one thing to mention it but to devout a section of the book to this drug and touting all its side effects, etc. I did not buy the book to read about some treatment. It appears as if the author is trying to sell this product, which I don't feel a doctor who criticizes the "medical establishment" should be doing.

A Confused doctor selling you his concepts, thoughts, conjectures and his medicine
There does not seem to be much substance in the book - looks more like selling the concept of TA. He (as he admits) conjectures a lot and am sometimes confused whether I am reading a story or something scientific. His language is confusing.... seems to suddenly jump to a story, seems to suddenly relate things for which you have no clue on what and how - infact he never has a theme throughout the book - jumps all over the place - seems like a confused guy about what he is trying to say. Overall - not a book that I would recommend
