It produces a good amount of steam in 10-20 seconds for about 10 minutes. It has a sealed off water tank that fits inside the steamer. As some other reviewers have suggested, I use filtered water for the tank to prevent mineral buildup. It's lightweight and compact, so I can hold it comfortably while I lounge in bed watching TV. (Or you could place it on a table lower than your face, while you lounge.) I have not experienced any water leakage when I do this either. I used to use a Conair facial steamer for years and while that did the trick; I was forced to sit in an awkward position, bored out of my mind during the steaming process. On top of that it would take a while to produce steam and I had to be extra careful about moving the steamer because the water would fly out otherwise. This steamer has none of those issues and I don't have to deal with unnecessary attachments and accessories. It's a wonderful product! ### ⭐ Works good but cheaply made. Will break on you after a few uses *by D***L on September 6, 2016* It works good, but the water reservoir part broke after one week. Waste of money in my eyes. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great steamer *by K***W on August 1, 2016* This is a great inexpensive steamer. At the $29.95 I paid, which is much less than comparable designs--it is worth every penny. Don't buy the expensive Japanese version when you can get this one at a bargain price.I use distilled water and it puts out lots of warm steam for a little less than 10 minutes. My skin looks better everytime I use it.The only con is after months of intermittent use, the vapor still does smell slightly like plastic and that is why I am giving it 4 stars. My workaround is to steam one side of my face at a time, then the top, then the bottom of my face while breathing thru my nose away from the steam. I do not mouth breathe. I would not use this as a humidifier.I am not sure if the more expensive steamer's (which look like this one) also smell slightly like plastic, but since they all appear to be made of similar plastic, my guess is they would all too.
