Great Performance and Fantastic Value
I just finished putting the generator up after using it the last 36 hours after Hurricane Zeta knocked power out to our house. What a great purchase! I flipped off the main breaker and back-fed the house via the 240V Dryer plug. This thing is a workhorse. We have a two story house on a basement with 2 HVAC units plus a mini-split AC in the basement. I left the upstairs HVAC breaker off, but powered two refrigerators, the main and mini-split HVAC, all the lights, internet gear, laptops and TVs in the house, plus the occasional kitchen appliance. With that load I burned about 6 gallons (nearly full tank) in 8 hours. I filled it back up while it was running, and it didn't seem to be getting hot, so ran it about 13 straight hours the first day. The next day it started right up and ran it for 5 hours until street power was restored. IMPORTANT: Make sure if you backfeed your panelboard that you DISCONNECT your street power and then disconnect your generator before reconnecting street power. An Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) will do this for you, and may be required by code to feed your panelboard. You'll also want to crank the generator up once a month for 30 minutes or so to prevent the carb from getting varnished, and to keep the battery charged. I let it sit 4 months and had to jump it off my truck as the hand starter is brutal. Pros + Great value for money + Dual fuel + Reasonably Efficient + Built in Volt, Frequency, and Time Meter + Key-start (when the battery isn't dead) Cons - No Amp or Watt Meter built in - Hard to Manually Start - Battery was dead - PRO Tip: Use jumper cables to your car to get it started - A Little Loud (maybe the same as other generators the same size, but louder than typical smaller tailgate type generators) - Waveform a little dirty - my APC UPS would not charge off of it even though it should the voltage and frequency were well within range.

Had initial startup issue, but runs like a champ ever since!
Delivery was great, used a box truck with a lift instead of the normal delivery vans. Assembly was easy, other than this is a 200+LBS unit. (Some people may require assistance with installation of the wheels, as you have to lift up the generator and set on a piece of wood or similar to install put them on). You also have to install the 2 handles for moving the generator around. As well as remove 2 "shipping brackets" as described in the instructions included. Battery was full charged and ready to go, everything was included, nothing was damaged. (all issues i had read from other reviews). After spending maybe an ~30-40 mins assembling it, i was ready to start it up. This is where i ran into the one and only issue. The generator would crank, but not start. I looked at the instructions that came with it, and went to the "troubleshooting" page. In the section that relates to my crank no start issue, it states to remove the bowl of the carburetor and allow to sit open for a few minutes and reassemble as the carb may be air/vapor locked. Sure enough after i put it back together, turned the fuel on again, put it on choke, it fired up within seconds. I ran it straight for about an hour with no issues, but also without a load. Turned off the fuel and allowed generator to use the remaining gas left in the carburetor, disconnected the negative and put away for about a month an a half. One day i wanted to see if it would start right up as it had after i figured out the no start issue. I pulled the generator back out and reconnected the battery. Turned on the fuel, choke and turned on the ignition. It fires right up in seconds. I then let it run for 5 minutes to let it warm up and recharge the battery (even though the battery didnt seem to loose any charge). I grabbed a couple extension cords and connected to my refrigerator, 3 electric/ceramic heaters, a tv, and a vacuum. All things convenient and easy to use, to do my quick load test. First i connected just the refrigerator, it is an older one. it runs 7.5 amps/900watts. I plug it in and i hear no change from the generator, as you normally hear when you put a load on it. I had to go inside to check if the refrigerator was actually on, because this thing didnt even hesitate. I then added the rest of the items i mentioned above and this thing ran strong the entire time. For $800 you cant beat the amount of power that this unit puts out. I havent actually used it yet in a power outage situation, but i am confident that this thing will run everything i need during an outage, including my central air.

Sheโs a beast I use mine for mobile welding occasionally
Easy to move and operate weight isnโt that bad I picked it up and put her on my tail gate pretty easily now donโt get me wrong I do weigh about 275 so for some I could see why she heavy but assembly was straight forward she has plenty of power to run my ole tombstone Lincoln welder and noise isnโt a problem for me seen as though Iโm mostly in the bush with mine . Battery is fine and I definitely recommend

Nice unit at a reasonable price
Finally unpacked, assembled, and tested this today. I live in Fl and have used a Kubota 6500w diesel generator for the last 21 years. It got me through a lot outages. It quit working and I haven't been able to find parts to repair it and with freezers full of food and hurricane season approaching, I choose this unit for my power needs.. This Wen DF-1100 was delivered by ABF trucking. They communicated well about schedule/time, the machine was in it's factory box and strapped securely to a pallet in an enclosed semi trailer. Not a dent/tear/mark on the box so hats off to ABF trucking-great job. Finally got the box out of my van today and assembled the unit which consisted of attaching the wheels, handles, pads, adding oil, connecting positive cable to battery, removing the 2 shipping bars, connecting the propane regulator line and the propane tank. Very easy setup. The battery seemed fully charged and within a few spins the engine was purring nicely. I ran it for about 5 minutes and then connected my pool pump to it and let it run about 20 minutes. Everything checked out fine and the meter/monitor functions as it should. The unit is fairly loud but not dramatically louder than any other I've heard. It seemed to me it was actually a bit quieter than expected. I'll be building a dedicated enclosure for this unit near my power pole and that will make a huge difference on the noise level. I haven't put gasoline in the tank yet and have only run it once on propane. The dual fuel aspect of this genny is great. I have a 1000 gal in ground propane tank and I'm considering running a permanent line to it once I have an enclosure built. It is more expensive to run it on propane but for longevity, the propane burns much cleaner and the engine will have an extended life versus gasoline. I plan to get a magnetic oil dipstick for it to help keep the oil clean as there is no oil filter. Oil changes look like an easy affair and at 1 quart, I plan to change it frequently. I will add an inline fuel filter before I try it in gas mode. I like that it has an on/off gas petcock as I always run the carb dry when shutting down. This is key and here's an example of why. I have a gas powered pressure washer with a small Honda engine. I always add fuel stabilizers to the gas on all my small engine stuff, mowers, p washers, generators etc. as sometimes a good deal of time goes by between usages. The last time I used the washer was almost 2 years ago. I turned off gas petcock at last use and it ran until all the gas was burned. I just used it and it started on the 2nd pull after 2 years. No gunked up carb because all the gas was burned out of it and the gas in the tank was still fine. So far, this genny seems like great value but only time will tell regarding longevity. The owners manual is pretty good. There is an exploded view of the engine and the generator with a complete list of ALL parts with part numbers. There is also a complete wiring diagram of the electrical components. I just spent an hour looking up parts on the Wen website. Every item I clicked on was readily available. I plan on assembling a good selection of replacement parts as I will have this unit for years and it seems everything can be repaired with current parts availability should the need arise. I think this is a good strategy for anyone purchasing a generator for the long haul. Based on my initial unpacking and test, I would not hesitate to recommend this unit. I will do some follow up reviews on this unit as time passes and usage goes up.

Obvious Factory Damage & Drain Fuel Plug & Oil/Gas Level Issues
Would have been 5 star rated except for, No damage in shipping, no damage to outside of box generator was in. Whoever/however LP Gas Regulator was put on did obvious damage to shroud covering engine. I am not sure if WEN would send me a new shroud or not, but just in case I bought 4 year extended warranty through Amazon. Also on carburetor, the drain gasoline plug was installed way too tight, I had to use a 1/4" drive and 10mm socket to loosen gas drain plug. It was so tight, I thought it might actually snap the plug screw off. On reinstalling the gas drain plug, as you can see by photo of the blue marks from factory screw alignment, no way I attempt to realign the blue marks. It is as tight as necessary using the 1/4" drive and 10mm socket. I doubt very much a Phillips screwdriver could have even loosened it. I had no issues unpacking or putting everything together. The oil dipstick seems to be not exactly right as to the level indicator working properly, yes, generator is on a level surface, adding all the oil did put the oil level half way up the screw threads, but on the oil dipstick it registered at its lowest point, in the safe zone, all 37.2 ounces was put into generator. I did buy from Amazon the WEN GNA273 Extra-Large Magnetic Oil Dipstick with M27-3.0 T, will put that in next time I run generator in 1 month. I already have on hand full synthetic 5W-30 small engine oil for the engine first oil change. Around where I live REC-90 is only available for unleaded/non ethanol gasoline, $1.00 per gallon more than 87 octane ethanol unleaded, on electric start, it started in less than 2 seconds. Ran really well no stalling at all. I only put about 1 gallon of gasoline in fuel tank, the fuel gauge on top not move at all yet, if it does not move when I fill tank, I will assume it is locked up, is misaligned from shipping, remove gauge and check it, reinstall it. I did add new STA-BIL 1oz. to each of my 4, 2-1/2 gallon gas cans I use/ I keep on hand also. I ran generator, NO LOAD for 1 hour, voltage on display was 243 volts AC, Hz was 62-63, my voltmeter read 241 volts AC, I am assuming my voltmeter is more accurate than the generator display. Kind of a moot point draining carburetor anyway, after running it, I shut off gas supply let it run out of gas, NO LOAD, when I went to drain gas at carburetor, only a few drops even came out of drain plug anyway. I do not have a photo, but threads on screws holding battery where rusted. Battery was 12.65 VDC before starting, while generator was running, was 13.65VDC going to battery, as opposed to other post that said generator does not charge the battery, yes it does. The generator ran noise wise, really quiet, it is kept in a large shed, 20 feet away, doors open facing North, from our bedroom windows, can not hear it running, as opposed to my Coleman Maxa 5000 ER PLUS, (1994 date was manufacture) the WEN was about half the noise. Vibration was hardly anything compared to my Coleman as well. Since it gets cold around here, (Northern Indiana by Michigan State line), I took out battery, brought into my home, keep it from discharging losing voltage in the cold. Cleaned up threads holding battery & applied thin layer of Vaseline to threads to keep them from rusting again. I already have a, NEMA L14-50R 120V/240V 50A Receptacle, male plug on hand, tried it for fit and as usual bottom of inside internal top ground plug plastic cracked, looked like a little too much plastic was in that hole to begin with, it does not affect contact. We have 23 Parrots in our home, (a personal home for unwanted Parrots), in the Winter, they would all die in hours the power goes out, this generator will run our entire home in summer with air conditioners on. Yes, my Parrots can overheat too. Why I bought it, I do not intend to use the LP Gas option, bought it for its total running Watts/Power. I am a Journeyman in Electric Motor and Transformer repair. The Coleman finally burned out 1 of its resistor Diodes, but I hope this WEN Generator does as well life wise as the Coleman did, about 28 years.

Worked Perfectly in multiple Power outages in Texas Grid
Living in Texas, we knew that having a reliable portable generator that can power significant amount of house demand was necessary. Bought this over 2 years ago and glad we did. It has worked perfectly in three multiple day power outages in Houston over the last 2 years. Had an issue with the battery being defective and dead within 2 months and the manufacturer (WEN) sent a replacement right away free of charge. Their customer service is exceptional. Generator is strong, can bear significant electrical load and fuel consumption is reasonable (and not too high). It has a 50 AMP outlet which is a big plus IMO because it allows to run everything except HVAC system in our house. Like any other machinery with Engine, maintenance is key. Change oil at regular intervals (25 hours is a reasonable number), Use good quality oil, Test Run the generator for atleast 10 to 15 minutes once a month on about 50% load, empty the carburetor after every run, unplug the battery connections so it does not drain out and the thing will work fine. One downside to watch out for: The fuel tank can create vacuum inside it after running for some time as fuel is consumed and it will prevent the fuel from reaching the engine. Solution is to use the pressure relief valve at the top of the fuel tank to get rid of the vacuum inside the tank. Other than that, it is a great product. We have tested it 3 times during multiple day outages, last one being the infamous destruction of Houston Electricity Grid by Hurricane Beryl.

generator seems to work fine altho haven't had a chance to reallytry it yet. Started easily. Problem I have is that I have ordered a couple of dipsticks, supposed to be for this model. Not ! I can't get info to see which one has the proper threading. The ones recommended do not work. So this is a frustrating issue.
