Boker Knives TK118 BP Defender Clam Knife Pack, Camo

Heavy, bulky, appears as well made as comparable knives... Edit: now rubber inlay falling out
Edit/update: Even with this knife seeing essentially no use over the last few months the rubber inlay is starting to fall out from one of the panels.------------------------Original Review:First off I bought this when the price dropped to an amazing level (under $8!). I relied on the online reputation of Boker, and even though these are made in China I am pleased. I'm also glad I decided to buy a few of them (the worst case scenario is to give them as gifts... I'm not a fan of partially serrated knives so they'll likely end up as gifts). For that purpose and at that price these are great! From my experience the quality is comparable to other Chinese made knives that have similar suggested retail prices. My review is based on the one I've tried so far.Overview: This knife is a very heavy sturdy folding knife with a partially serrated blade, a prominent quillion (lower hilt blade-guard) and very large thumb rise (upper hilt blade-guard). The knife can be opened by pressing the quillion, using the thumb rise, using the thumb stud, or even using the thumb hole; although the thumb stud and thumb rise sit so high up on the blade when it's folded that they can be very awkward to use (the quillion and thumb rise get in the way). Notwithstanding this, for some people it may be nice to have lots of options to open up the blade, including catching the thumb rise on a pocket when you pull it out. The knife opening is stiff (I'm assuming it still needs broken in and lubed). Closed retention is good, blade centering is ok, lockup has the liner in the middle of the blade (not early, not late), and the blade is sharp. The knife closes using the standard liner lock (neither easy nor difficult for me). The jimping on the back of the handle is nice, but the jimping on the middle top part of the blade is hard to get to with the huge thumb rise in the way. The "reptile grip inlays" are rubbery textured inlays that add some good grip to the otherwise aluminum handle. The lanyard hole is in a different spot than pictured on the packaging, and is smaller than I'd expect for "550 cord" on the packaging (more like the size for 275 or 325 cord, or other similar smaller sized cord...unless you have more patience or thinner 550 cord than I do).The Knife came right-hand-tip-down carry however there are mounting holes both top and bottom and both sides to move the clip. I did have an issue with two of the three mounting torx screws being insanely tight. Be aware I feel that the screws are made of fairly soft metal and the torx heads may tend to strip. The knife dimensions (overall and blade length) match precisely. On my scale mine weighed in at a heavy 6.0 ounces exactly.Overall, this is a heavy knife that is big and bulky, but appears as well made as comparable knives. Although because of the weight and bulk it's NOT something I personally would want to EDC (Every Day Carry).
