New SAT
I tutor the SAT and was in a hurry to get up-to-date on this subject. This is a pretty thick book! It goes through each part of the test, teaching how to improve your strategies. Instead of the explanations of the scores (as on most SAT books) the more involved explanations can be looked up online. This means, the book if full of short lessons and short quizzes to help you learn step-by-step.I like that I can have my students order mini-diagnostics, a 3-pack of PSAT tests and individual full tests. Often, students feel pretty overwhelmed by a big book like this, so the smaller versions are better for those students. This is a great book to take a bit at a time and go through all you need to know. Even if you were NOT going to take the test, you will vastly increase your understanding of basic subjects.

Great for teachers and students
I've been teaching SAT classes for 3 years, and this book is a very comprehensive review of all the content on the new exam. Some of the chapters cover extremely basic concepts, but this can be helpful for students who are struggling in any of the subject areas. There are plenty of practice questions, a practice test after each subject area (math, reading, writing) and two full-length practice tests included. There are also five new essay prompts. Some of the information is a little outdated, as College Board has made some changes to the exam since the publication date, and there are a few typographical mistakes. However, this is rectified in the erratum that is available for download from the Ivy Global site, along with a wealth of other resources for teachers and students. Highly recommended!

I'm happy with what I ordered.
I've been a test prep instructor for many years. I've had this book for about 2 months now. It will definitely allow my students to get ahead of the game. People talk about using the official book for prepping but with years of experience in teaching thousands of students in test prepevery year, it's not always the best way to go. If you think about it, people who make the test are not going tell you ways tobeat the test. There are enough strategies that I found very helpful in this book for the New SAT. I also looked at the Collegboard's guidelines for the new test and this book meticulously follows that guideline.

Quite a helpful resource for students preparing for the new SAT
SAT prep tutors like me are in a pickle. Do we encourage students to take the old SAT before the the test changes next spring? Do we recommend that they bide their time and take the test in its new format? Do we recommend instead that they take the ACT, thereby sidestepping all the uncertainties about the new SAT?For those students going for option 2 – taking the new SAT next year in the spring or fall – Ivy Global’s prep book is good. I’m not quite as enthusiastic as are several of the reviews already posted here, but still the book makes an intelligent effort to anticipate the content of the new test. And certainly, working through the material in this book will prove very helpful to the student who wants to achieve a high score on this test.Let’s remember, though, that the SAT hasn’t published yet its official guide to the test. That won’t be available at until the end of June. So Ivy Global and SAT tutors are doing some guesswork about the exact content and format of the test. The College Board has told us a lot, though, about what the test questions will look like. And the Ivy Global book incorporates this information.I’ll mention here that in this 990+ page book, there are some errors and omissions. In the math section, for example, the discussion of “systems of equations” presents only the substitution method for solving such systems. Omitted is the elimination method, which often is the better way to find the right answer quickly and accurately.Math problem 2 on page 809 gives four graphs that might represent a certain equation and asks the student to chose the right one. But none of the graphs is quite right. The alleged “right” answer, choice D, has the wrong slope.Similarly, problem 26 on page 815 offers four choices, none of which is correct. The alleged “right” answer, choice D, fails when x = 2.The trigonometry explanation in the math section omits trig. identities and periodicity. However, maybe it’s asking too much to expect these to be covered in this math review. And on the other side of the ledger, the discussion of the unit circle is succinct and excellent.Shortcomings of the kind mentioned above are few. On the whole, this book is an excellent resource for students preparing to take the new SAT.Raymond Barglow, tutor, Berkeley California

Book arrived with damages
SAT Prep book was purchased new, so I’m a little bit confused as to why we received a damaged book. Product was packaged in a box so damage didn’t occurred during shipping. When purchasing anything new you expect the items to arrive looking new with no physical damages to its general appearance.

Buyer Beware!!
I was provided a free copy of this book by the publisher because they found my website, maxthetest.com, and identified me as a professional in the SAT test prep field. That's the only thing they got right. The book is so far off the design of the new SAT that it should be immediately removed from the market. I've been preparing students since 1991 and this is the most ridiculous representation of the SAT I've seen. When they called for my review of the book I asked them a series of questions about how they predicted the format. Their answers were vague and revealed a terrible understanding of the test development process. Their crystal ball at predicting what the test would look like was as clear as a bowling ball. They didn't even get the geometry diagrams correct in the math reference "cheat sheet" that is at the beginning of the math sections! They were the first and worst of the test prep books that will come out for the new test. Stick with the Official SAT Study Guide from the College Board.
