The box is hardly full, was more like half full. It's a little bigger than toddler shoe box. It was less than 4lbs.

Yes, everything shown on the container can be built with included pieces. My daughter got this two weeks ago has been building away.

What is the recommended age for these?

As these are small parts, they are not recommended for anyone under age 3. I bought the larger blocks for my kiddos until age 5 when their fingers were developed enough to manipulate the smaller pieces with minimal frustration. Legos are very much an all ages activity but on average, the boys I have seen grow tend to like them from about 5 to 13 or so. Then they enjoy them again as adults. :)
