National Board Certification for Teachers: Mapping Your Journey

The book is a very thorough walk through the revised (2013-2017) system. The information would be very helpful to facilitators and mentors as well as candidates.

I'm not a NBCT candidate but bought this book upon recommendation by an NBCT mentoring me as I completed year 3 of the Ohio Resident Educator Program; the Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA). Their assessment requires you to reflect on and analyze your students, curriculum and pedagogy. Mapping Your Journey is an excellent guide in how to do this. It also provides tips in filming your lessons. I recommend this book for teachers and mentors who want to take a deep dive into teaching practices.

I’ve been dragging my feet about National Boards because I didn’t know where to start! I devoured this book in a night and am focused and ready to tackle such a task! This book is down to earth with practical tips and advice. It feels like having someone right there with you. I have other National Board books and this is by far the best one I’ve read! If you’re on the fence, PLEASE BUY!

AMAZING BOOK! The best book on the market if you’re trying to become National Board Certified. The authors provide frank and personal accounts of their experiences in the certification process. The book truly is a “map” of the certification journey and includes practice activities. This book is the only I’ve found that outlines the new certification process and requirements.
