Better Than I Expected
I have always enjoyed Moto smartphones: Moto G4 Play, Moto E4, Moto X4 and now Moto G7. I have not had any negative experiences with Moto phones. On the contrary, I have been satisfied Moto phones and Moto G7 is no exception. I bought this for $229 (Lightning Deal) because I missed it when it was $199 (Prime day). Still at $229, this is a great phone. If you do not care about premium camera experience and latest and great processor, but just want all-around great phone for email, text, call, web browsing, YouTubing, light gaming, and decent photo shots, then this is a great choice. 1. Big screen but manageable size. A big6.2" screen but only little taller than my Moto X4 (5.2" screen). I was initially worried whether this is a pocket-able phone (I put my phones in front pocket of the pants). But I was pleasantly surprised that I could put the phone (with a case on) in my front pocket and still sit down on a chair! A 6.2" screen gives you great viewing area for many things and a tear drop notch does not bother me at all. 2. 64GB and 4GB RAM. My Moto X4 (Amazon prime) came with 32GB and 3GB RAM, and it does a great job for my purpose but G7 gives you more so that you will not be lacking in storage and performance. 4GB is plenty good enough for multitasking and overall performance. I have yet to experience any lag. 3. Snapdragon 632. Moto X4 comes with SD 630, and it is good enough, but G7 comes with SD 632 - which is faster than 630. And armed with 4GB RAM, performance is top notch. Apps open fast and moving from page to page was easy and smooth. The phone runs like a premium phone. I love the experience. 4. Battery lasts full day and more for a casual user like me. My screen time is normally between 3-4 hours per day. And with G7 battery, I can go about 1 1/2 day per charge. 5. Stock camera experience is not as good as my wife's Pixel 3a, but is decent enough to be not to be ashamed. In other words, you can take decent pictures when the moment arrives and do not need to be hesitant. BUT if you really want a better camera experience, download and install "Google Camera (or gcam)" apk for your Moto G7 (just google "how to install google camera apk for Moto G7"). IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Now the experience is solid B+. I am using it now and it is great! 6. Get a decent case and tempered-glass screen protector to protect your investment. Overall, I love this phone. It does more and better than expected! Given the price, this is a great choice for those who do not need or want premium phones! Highly Recommended!

This is a GREAT budget phone!!
Over the years my wife and I've owned several different generations of Moto phones, the first being the 1st gen Moto with several other gens to follow, my latest being the Moto G5 Plus. All the Motos we owned were fine phones, and for the most part were trouble free, except for the G5 Plus which over the past month become increasingly slower, more erratic, with the battery draining rapidly leading to a charge by mid-afternoon. Tech support suggested several different things to try to revive the dying brick (all of which I'd already tried!!) but nothing worked. I'd had the G5 plus for 18 months and up until this past month I really liked it's performance. I'm just grateful the old girl held on until Black Friday when I was able to snag a Moto G7 for $179 on Amazon. The transfer of Apps and Data went smoothly and both phones had the same size SIM card (nano) so that was easy. I did have to contact my service provider and update a few mobile settings for texting but that only took a few minutes and I was up and running. "Running" is the best way to describe the past two days of putting the G7 through a battery of trials and tests. First off I was amazed at the speed and fluidity of this phone, the processor is way faster than any other Moto I've owned. I was also impressed with the battery life, at the end of the day I still had 34% after a full day of setting up, arranging Apps, downloading several new apps (which I wanted but didn't have the space for on the G5), I also spent several hours of checking out the bells and whistles the G7 possesses. Oh, and I viewed lots of YouTube vids. I was also extremely impressed with the facial recognition and the fingerprint sensor, both have worked flawlessly with amazing speed (much more so than the fingerprint sensor on my old G5 Plus), I like the sensor much better being on the back of the G7 versus the front on the G5. I didn't spend much time with the camera which is not a priority for me, but the pics I did take were pretty darn good. I love that this phone has 64 gb of internal storage and 4 gb of RAM, which is more than plenty for me and my needs. Not only does the performance stand out, the outward apperance and display of the G7 is very impressive IMO. The G7's sleek/stylish appearance and feel would lead one to believe this is a much more expensive phone than it actually is, also IMO. One last comment, I ordered a slim case because other reviewers remarked how slick the surface was on the G7, It is and I'm glad I did!! I'm sure you can tell that I'm totally impressed with the G7, but will it last? Time will tell so if the need arises in the future due to unforeseen problems, I'll certainly update this review.

Pretty decent
For this price, it's a pretty solid phone. It's fast, light-weight and charges quickly as well. It's battery life is a bit on the shorter side though, so you really gotta minimize your use, keep the brightness low and turn on power saving mode when necessary. However, this isn't really that big an issue when you can charge the phone in under an hour from 10% to 100%. I haven't spent much time with it yet, only a few days but I'm liking it so far. It's got a mostly clean install of Android 9.0 and it works out of the box easily. Only annoying thing I had to figure out was how to disable Moto Actions, they're a real battery drainer and just annoying. Simple enough to do though, just go to the Moto app and disable all the moto actions/gestures/etc. Overall, great low budget phone, and being unlocked is pretty awesome too. Worth the price for those who don't wanna blow a grand for a cell phone. Oh and I didn't test the face recognition, I'm not into that sort of thing. The fingerprint reader was about average compared to what I'm already used to, that being said, it's not very reliable. Passwords work just fine though haha.
